Hi! How do you deal with internal stress and warping after milling?
@pdxcnc2 жыл бұрын
We typically machine one side, flip, machine other side, flip. Depends on how much is needed to be removed but each piece has it's own unique qualities (stress amount) it seems.

How'd you hold down this part?

Vacuum through the spoilboard

@@pdxcnc Thanks for the reply, that's what I figured. Do your speeds and feeds change with these tools much for HDPE? - I'm planning to test cut with the feeds and speeds on this video on HDPE. Any reason you flattened both sides besides surface finish and perfect thickness, I guess I assumed if it was flattened to the table and the table was flat, you'd get a perfectly flat part by just facing one side, but that's only if the table is freshly fly cut and flat I suppose - is that the right thinking? Thanks again, really appreciate this channel!

Feeds don’t change much in terms of chip load. Traditionally you only know a surface is square or coplanar if you machine it. If you don’t have a high tolerance need, machine only one face. Material is never as accurate from the factory as you’d imagine.

@@pdxcnc Of course! Do you use that same facing mill to plane down or face off wood?

Hey! Just got a shear hog but was curious if you've ever planed down hardwoods with it, or what tool you would recommend yo accomplish this? I want a higher quality finish, perhaps around 2" diameter tool. Thanks!
@pdxcnc2 жыл бұрын
Shearhogs are fantastic. It's not a superb finishing tool as it's designed for heavy material removal. Slower feedrate, climb, and smaller stepovers might get you a better finish though.

Hi, how is it that the material did not warp?
@pdxcnc4 ай бұрын
Check out at @1:46 - we take some off both sides, ideally an equal amount.

Een link naar de lastools die je gebruikt zou wel handig zijn.

The translation says welding tools but I'm guessing this is CNC tooling? There's info on the tools on our website linked above or here: pdxc.co/acetal-post

Why are your lead in and lead out feedrates almost double your cutting feedrate?
@pdxcnc3 жыл бұрын
I like to move quickly in and out of cuts. Those should be non-contact movements. Ramp should be about half of feed

for simple operations like facing the most efficient way of work is to not using Fusion 360 at all. many operations can be done faster in manual mode or with simple software.
