We enjoy watching your adventures. Can't wait to go back to Madeira. A fun hike is the Sao Jorge coastal hike. Start from Ruínas de São Jorge and go to Ponta de São Jorge. You walk on a wooden plank that looks like it will fall into the ocean at any time. A small section of the trail is gone however holding onto ropes gets you down.

Glad you liked it!! Did I forgot to mention that usually we start the hike on the cable car?🤦😅 Actually from that Boca do risco view point you can go to another 3 different routes. You can go all the way to Caniçal or you can go down the valley to Machico or to another beautiful trek inside laurel forest called vereda das funduras. Very windy that second day wasn't?!! Quite dramatic landscape isn't?

Yeah, that was really amazingly beautiful. Thank you again for that recommendation. We figured it eventually out, where the hike starts, and we are happy to have started at Porto da Cruz as that was beautiful too and the lunch was so amazing. We saw a few trails starting from Boca da Risco, which is probably what you mean... Yeah very windy but happy we went back 👍

I’m very confused about the options for parking and walking the cliff walk from Boca do Risco west and down to Porto da Cruz. If we desire to shorten the hike and go one way and mostly down, is there a trailhead access point closer than the Pico do Facho bus stop? We’re thinking of leaving our car at Ponto da Cruz and Uber to the top trailhead. OR is there parking near the cable car where we could walk across the cliffs to the east and the double back to the west before walking down to eat at Piscinas, thereby enjoying the cliff views in both directions. Can you make a suggestion?

Yes you can park the car directly at the trail head, which is exactly what we ended up doing. So what you see in the video is exactly that…

Another incredible, beautiful, amazing video...seamlessly edited and giving us a view of Madeira through your eyes. I found myself taking deep breaths almost smelling the fresh air, the ocean, the ferns and moss....all the scents of nature....goodness I miss those amazing walks. That mountain is called Penha d'Aguia (Eagle Rock), every now and then an eagle or falcon would come down and swoop up a chicken for dinner in Porto da Cruz. Men would run around with shotguns, the grannies would go crazy, mine being one of them, like it was my fault. You are in a beautiful part of the world. Hi, you can take a bus to caniçal , you must jump before the tunnel, and in Porto da Cruz you take a bus to come bake to Funchal, that way you don t need a car.

You have to do Pico Ruivo, the highest point on the Island, at sunrise, on a good day, you have to wake up really early, but oh God! its fabulous, and not far from it, for a drive trough by the village of "a Ilha" again, fenomenal.

@@LauzaAndMichael The one time I did it, we left Funchal were I come from, I leave in the UK at the moment! we got there around 5 in the morning, then 1/2 an hour later the show began, clouds below us kissing the top of the mountain, dropping into the valleys below, sun rising in a multicoloured spec that left us speechless. A few years ago I was flying back to England, and I was lucky to witness an enormous sunset show, for about 10 mts. into the flight, the change in colours and shapes was absolutely crazy.
