Şehrin yerleşimi Roma İmparatorluğu'nun bir karakolu olduğu yüzyıllar öncesine dayanıyor. Adının (Portugal (İngilizce)) kaynağının Latince adı Portus Cale,[3] olduğu bilinir.
The city of Porto is located at the mouth of the Rio Douro river in northern Portugal. With a population of 231,800 according to the 2021 census (the total population of Metropolitan Porto is 1,721,038), it is the most important industrial point of the country and the capital of the province of the same name. The city center, located on the northern bank of the Doura River, was included in the World Heritage List by UNESCO in 1996. The settlement of the city dates back centuries, when it was an outpost of the Roman Empire. It is known that the source of the name (Portugal (English)) is the Latin name Portus Cale,[3].
