At 67, I was wondering why a 20 year old college student that I know was shooting Portra 400 at Christmas. Now I remember. I also remember wearing boots, Levis jacket with hoodie, and ski cap on job sites out of blue collar necessity. It's nice to see that people still appreciate stuff that works. Now then, where's my old Red Wings, and M3. :-)

I really appreciate the time you took for each shot and the zoom in as well so that we could really have a chance to properly compare them all. Thats generally my biggest gripe with alot of vs camera/film videos. So thank you for that!

Great video, Eric. I'm gonna take the Canon 1V photos all day, every day. The Leica came in a very close second and the Olympus came in a very distant third when it came to all the shots in general. Lenses are everything and the Canon EF mount lenses for their film cameras were/are par excellence. Of course, I'm being completely subjective based on what I'm seeing. Just followed you and Mike on IG. Keep bringing this type of content. What made it even better is you posted it on my birthday. Happy holidays.

Is +1 exposure comp the same effect if you shoot a full 1 stop over at box speed?

Yes it is. There’s literally an exposure comp function on the 1V that this guy neglected to use for some reason. Both function the same but you don’t need to finagle with the ISO.

As soon as you said you let it on dx in one and overexpose on the other 2 the comparison became worthless. I do not doubt your skills at all ,but comparisons have to be made with the same settings as much as possible, here you show off your skills instead of how each camera reacts to the same scenes with the same automatic settings . At least i thought it was a camera comparison not how well you can use them, that is not helping people to find the one most interesting for their style. P.s.: i saw an eos 1n not the 1 v btw. Since the 1v has a better zone and partial metering and better autofocus due to more crosstype af sensors it also shows people who don’t know a wrong image of the 1v making them think they are the same.

@eccentricsmithy27463 жыл бұрын
Camera bodies are irrelevant in this comparison as all they do is create a space with no light for the film...The only thing that would make any difference in the outcome of the film are the lenses, provided that all are shot with identical settings. Light transfer thru the lenses to the film is the ONLY factor here.
@alonwolf46964 ай бұрын
Appreciate the intent, but this video has very little merit. So many variable, especially in the conversion that it’s practically impossible to know what’s the contribution of each camera is to the image quality. I’m also noticing that you are using a standalone light meter. So how are we supposed to tell how the cameras themselves exposed the image based on their light metering capabilities?
@jimmyrocket023 жыл бұрын
Leica all day. I feel like at least half of the canon shots missed focus.
@stewartweir34253 жыл бұрын
What a bizarre video. Portra is Portra and the only variables to how it 'looks' are the lens characteristics, what ISO its rated at, how its scanned and how you edit that scan! It has zero to do with the camera body.. this is basic stuff..
