She replies that she has always been a collaborator and when prompted to go into further detail, defers to Celine who very slyly and lovingly encourages Adele to answer as they would answer the same. Immediately Adele is uncomfortable and nervous and asks Celine for help. Without missing a beat, Celine jumps in and saves her. Idk, it's such a small moment but I've watched it many times and am moved by the love and respect these women have for one other. Not to mention how very protective they are of each other. I just finished it tonight. It took me two nights, as I was afraid to finish it the first time. It took me a lot of pauses before finishing, I get overwhelmed at certain moments that I had to pause and cry. After finishing the movie, I know this is one of the films that is burned in my memory and will forever have a place in my life. Some are not fleeting. Thank you Celine Sciamma. I have been a fan of Adéle's for 12 years now (since Water Lilies first came out) and I have always thought that she may very well have some form of Autism/ADD. The unusual ticcing, seemingly involuntary repetitive movements, rather odd facial expressions and physical awkwardness etc really stick out a mile and seemingly point to a 'disorder' of this kind. However I just love how utterly unique and 'Adéle' these mannerisms are, and how special and 'herself' she is, and I truly wouldn't change a thing about her.
