This is a micro level of evil, Hitler was a macro level of evil. Hitler and his thugs killed millions of people mostly swiflty with shooting and gassing, it is brutal but I think it is just as evil to brutally murder an innocent young girl and mutilate her corpse like this or randomly kill people on the street in a barbaric way. I think the murder of Mary Jane Kelly is one of the most horrifying murders I have ever heard about, probably only surpassed by the Black Dahlia Murder. There are probably many unknown and lesser known cases in history that are just as bad. I don't think quantity is a good measurement of evil.

The Ripper had come into her room at night by way of a key that was right next to a window in her little room with a hole in it (which is how he was able to unlock her door by reaching through and getting the key,) She was in bed most certainly asleep and was awakened by his entrance and had just enough time to let out a cry of "OH! MURDER!" before he cut her throat with such ferocity that the tissues had been severed right down to the spinal column and the fifth and sixth vertebrae had been deeply notched by the knife. The air passage had been cut at the lower part of the larynx through the cricoid artery according to Dr Thomas Bond's post mortem notes. So yes she died quickly.

Mary Jane Kelly was witnessed by those known well to her as having been seen soliciting for clients which she needed to pay for her lodging. Several other possible clients had declined her offerings but she was seen walking in the direction of her room with a man that they were unable to describe because his hat was pulled low over his eyes.l but his clothing was said to be of a higher quality than locals would have .. perhaps a middle class gent "slumming it". She was heard by an upstairs lodger singing loudly, perhaps even drunkenly for quite a period of time before hearing her call of, "Oh, Murder", and then all went quiet but candlelight was still seen coming from the exterior by passers-by. So her client had plenty of time and all the privacy he needed to carry out the butchery of the poor girl's body. But my point is that it was most likely her client and not an intruder who killed her, despite the noted broken window pane through which the landlord's messenger was able to see her butchered corpse in the early hours of the next afternoon when she didn't come to pay her rent. I was particularly interested in this case for the similarities and differences between MJK and the other murders attributed to The Ripper and I've seen reproductions of the crime scene photos of MJK in some detail - to say they are horrifying is to say the very least! So it's nice to see that someone has finally given her back her pretty little face and restored some of her dignity. In fact, I'm going to choose to remember her appearance this way from now on, and not the way her assailant left her!! But one further point regards the Ripper Murders I'd like to mention is that I don't believe that the Whitechapel group of slayings were The Ripper's first - nor were they his last. There were some equally horrific murders around the country, most notably those of several children. All were apparently committed by a man seen in the vicinities who was not a local to the areas where they occurred, and all the were easily accessible to train stations on direct lines from the city of London. I'm not saying that The Ripper was responsible for them all ... only that it's possible that these were his 'practice' murders.

For those who wonder here of she was alive at the time of the mutilations the answer is no, one of the post-mortem doctors wrote a detailed report saying she was killed on the right side of the bed, they found a pool of blood underneath the bed and on the pillow as well as on the wall; my theory is that Jack was on top of her and cut her throat deeply twice, if you look closely her right eye is looking down in horror... nobody can survive long with the blood loss she suffered...Another note is that Jack may have used something heavy to hack her face since the skull is broken... Also her femur bone is split in two. The murderer I think is Nathaniel Kaminski who was admitted into the same asylum as Aaron Kosminski and police confuse them, Kaminski died just months after of "exhaustion of mania" or a "violent mania" which lastes days. May Mary Kelly rest in peace forever and the ripper still burn in hell!

There are indications and circumstancial evidence that can suggest that there is a possibility he could have done it, however most is based on speculation. Of the suggested suspects I think Nathan Kaminsky(David Cohen) is the most likely as his incarceration in a mental home happened only months after the Mary Jane Kelly murder. He was described as a violent man with homicidal tendencies and who behaved ucontrollably. However what gives me some doubt about this is that if he had gotten their confidence to have him as a client, they must not have believed him to be dangerous for them. However as bad as the murder of Chapman and Nichols were, Catherine Eddowes was more brutalized and Mary Jane Kelly was of course the worst of all the murders. However they seem to be very precise in how they were mutilated and how they were murdered. I imagine sa raging lunatic would not be able to gain their trust enough to be accepted as a client and I imaigine that such a person would be more ucontrolled when commiting the murder rather than slice the throat in very specific ways and in a short time be able to mutilate them very precisely. Perhaps was the increased ammount of mutilation a sign of increased insanity? Who knows. We will never know the identity of the killer, or even 100 percent if all the murders were the work of one man or if it was way more victims. There are thousands of people in whitechapel who could have been the killer. A raging lunatic like Kaminsky or a flamboyant character like Tublety would most likely raise suspicion,

The legend of the ripper, the story, is much bigger than the actual murderer who'll just be some local scruff. The descriptions of him usually say he wore a cloth cap with a peak between 5ft 5 and 5ft 7 tall and respectably dressed but shabby in appearance with a small light brown moustache and broad shoulders, one said he wore a red neckerchief and a loose fitting salt and pepper jacket with the appearance of a sailor. Just some average local whitechapel/ Spitalfields chap. There's been too much myth mixed in with carriages and doctors and tall hats et cetera that's all hyped up nonsense is the reason I'm pointing these things out. He strangled his victims first apart from kelly and was almost caught a few times or seen with victims. So all that crap about it being miraculous how he appeared then disappeared in areas full of police is hype too. He was just lucky. They should make a definitive movie about it all and just base it on the truth like try did with the Zodiac killer. Instead of that hyped up garbage, From Hell.

Some 40 years ago I read a book about Jolly Jack, in which a representative from Scotland Yard said the photos of Mary and his other victims were so horrific they would never be made public. How times have changed. In a way Jack, whoever he was, made Mary, Long Liz Stride and the others immortal - how many other girls of their time and type are still remembered today? Rest in peace indeed, they never deserved such a fate. I favour Daniel Kominsky, the poor fellow who died insane in Colney Hatch as the most likely candidate for the 'honour' of being Jolly Jack, personally.

Mary Kelly's death photos gave me genuine sleepless nights last November , I hadn't really studied them so closely before, as they are very distressing. What went on in that room, when did the dreadful deed occur, was Mary Kelly asleep, drunk ? The terror she must have felt, seeing the eyes of her attacker change from 'normal' to demented cannot be underestimated. Hopefully death came fast, to spare her agony, but the images in sepia still have the power to shock, buffered by a century or more. These reconstructive images do help give Mary back a little of her Spiritual dignity, her eyes have peace, and her face repose.

The closest thing to the scene in that hellish case I saw was a horse slaughterhouse...Vaugirard, 1976. Some online photos of the same type of mutilations, guts pulled about. I really think the killer was a slaughter worker.

The best evidence is against Charles Allen Lechmere. He was a cart driver for local meat processing company. I'd be willing to guess that before he drove the meat cart he was probably doing a lot of cutting at the factory. Of All the suspects it is he who is found with the dead body of Polly Nichols. And it is he who lied to the police about his name. He lived and grew up in the East End. His walk to work put him in the vicinity of at least 4 of the 5 canonical murders and the timing fits rather well as he started his work shift at 4am. The 5th murder while outside the vicinity of his walk to work was strangely enough, very close to his mother's house. He was a local who wouldn't stand out as out of place and because of his work he might likely be seen with blood stained clothing regularly. His testimony states that he was alone with the victim for just a moment before another gentleman walking to work by the name of Robert Paul walks towards them. However, varied testimony regarding the timing of all involved (police, Paul etc) can easily put him at the scene for up to 9 minutes. Hmmm.

This is probably the best of any of these I've seen and , since you have to guess on some things like shape of eyes and how her eye lids were plus nose length and width BUT their are a Few News Paper Sketches that were done with the help of people who knew Her and this looks very similar to those. Although I thought Kelly was Blond with Blue eyes ? So many conflicting statements about Kelly even if her name was EVEN Kelly ... All we have to go by is what she said and I don't know if I believe all the stories she told her Boyfriend J.B. like going a France ( Why couldn't they find people who knew her when she worked at that posh West End Brothel or Her Brother who she said was in the Army ALTHOUGH for some reason they were REALLY IN A RUSH TO END THE INQUEST which is strange ) or having been married they are NO Documents anywhere to support anything she had said except a Family by the name of Kelly did come to England from Ireland and the Father could have worked at a Foundry there was one right down the Street and the Mothers name was Mary but she's not listed as one of their Children but if she was She would have been the Oldest and it would make her about 4 years younger then what most think.... Kelly is a enigma .,,,,, and in my opinion has more to do with the Murders then we know JTR must have been Stalking her no other reason can explain how he knew the Lady staying with her left that day or How to unlock the door thru the broken window or maybe he had the key that was lost there are about 100 reasons to think she was a target the most important being JTR was a " Slash and Dash " guy and Kelly didn't fit his MO not by a long shot ,,, No Kelly offended him in some way ...doesn't take much to piss off a Serial Killer ..... Only victim not to have her head covered or turned away so not to be looking at him a common S, Killer trait NO he destroyed her whole face but the eyes were left intake ?? looking straight at him and the door then her Heart was taken ???? just sayen she doesn't fit...

CJ carp, maybe I misunderstood what you wrote about covering their faces up. None of JTR's victims had that dignity. He showed no remorse and left them with their legs spread opened all carved up. Kelly's death was different and he probably did stalk her, but it still could be JTR. His attacks became more frenzied with each one. Of course, we don't know for sure.

Good attempt at guessing at her likeness. She was said to be the youngest and the prettiest of the victims and had been a high class prostitute in an expensive brothel until her alcoholism brought her down. She was only 25 or 26 when murdered and such a horrible death it was, poor girl. These women were only trying to survive in what was the wretched poverty and conditions of west end London of the Victorian era. This monster was a complete predator
