This has been an awesome demo, beautifully executed and so well filmed and edited, I know it takes a lot work behind the camera as well as in front. I like how you tiled the face, changing value, temperature and hues at the edges of the planes, then tying all of it together with softer, subtle transitions. I do not generally watch tutorials but I cannot get enough of your lessons. I am trying to covert your instructions with oil paint into oil pastels. Im painting my first attempt at a portrait and she is wearing a sharp white hat with black trim. So ive struggled a bit to get it looking good on canvas .just black n white was boring and im attempting to create rough edges .Yellow ochre with a huge dob of white on top and your mix of grey with violet is going to add what im looking for ..as you say just go for it .. This’s another amazing video and lovely artwork! Love the moment you put the highlight on her eyes and nose and that really gave the life of the portrait. (I said wow when I watched). Besides, the painting hands video you are planning, can you also provide some suggestions on brush set? I know you mainly use Rosemary & Co. but there are so many series on the shelf and hard to come up which forms a better set for different stage of painting. Thank you so much!

First, congratulations on getting the drawing correct. I love how you move paint. I paint nine of these . Southern California blondes, strawberry blondes, the colors . I’ve learned the hard way about going to light . Love how you painted her face , so hard to see something other than that very light baby face skin. I cringed when you went to the eyes and especially eye sockets. Those dark values are there but rarely do they show in photo. Most of time I just paint form with transparent oxide red and wipe. A little mauve or violet. Great job.

I have one big problem....I make a lot of excuses to avoid aproating my canvas...even though I love painting. I am actually a carpenter and make a lot of carpentry besides tree sculptures, but it is portrait painting, that I burn for. @@lustenhouwer I have a question there are rules for the whole figure? I explain the portrait a technique is to paint the forehead, cheeks, nose, chin with a certain type of colors for example ocher, blue and red . Are there similar "rules" throughout the figure? or the variations of tone is achieved with more knowledge of color? (mixes and all that) by simple logic would occupy the tones that I use for the portrait for the whole figure but good logical is the amateur look, I don't know if the portrait has its own trick, the whole figure has its own tricks ....
