First, thank you for creating the "How to blend" video, extra kudos for the added bonus of "skin tones mixing". Is hard for me to express my gratitude, because in these days of "big tech", simplicity seems like an extinguishing act. I also realize that your technique is not the only one available, but is a hell of a start. Thank You again... PS: Just so you know, artists are charging big bucks for this kind of info on Patreon.
@gabbywonka16 жыл бұрын
No problem, it was my pleasure :) also... I have no idea what Patreon is XD what’s that
@MrPanatech6 жыл бұрын
Patreon is platform where artists provide training and gifts in exchange for monthly support. Usually the support pledges range from $1 to $50 per month. What I see most artists do, is display their skills on a youtube channel, and also provide trailers of upcoming full length videos. At the end everyone benefits, the artists raises money to continue developing art, and the supporters learn techniques on the platform. Check it out. Good Luck,
@gabbywonka16 жыл бұрын
thanks for all this info but I think I'll stick to KZbin :) what i always liked about KZbin was the fact that creators can still make money while the watchers don't actually have to pay. I think this is a really great platform but I'll still take note of Patreon in case i change my mind in the future.

Actually, there are lighter skin tones with blue undertones. Some Italians and middle eastern. I've watched portrait painting videos of subjects from those places and the artist used blue undertones and their skin was much lighter than what you have on your last card.

What about green undertones? I've heard that a green underpainting makes a portrait more realistic
@gabbywonka15 жыл бұрын
curmudgeon you are correct but it’s not exactly an undertone. Red and green are complimentary colours and so together they make brown. A technique for creating skin tones is by painting a green base layer and painting over that with a red-based colour. It usually comes out more realistic especially since our veins appear green or bluish green under our skin. So it doesn’t really have to do with skin undertones but rather layering and colour theory

Am I the only struggling so bad to blend the skin tones together with acrylics ? Is it easier with oil ? I never tried oil. Thank you so much for the video by the way it’s life changing 🤩
@gabbywonka13 жыл бұрын
acrylics can be difficult to blend because it dries quickly, so it requires practice. Oil paint is definitely easier to blend however oil paintings can take up to months to dry, and it requires buying certain liquids to mix and clean brushes (its not like other paint where u just use water)
