I think that Portugal got desperate because they were being out run by the speedy South Koreans. They had no choice but to gamble in trying to slow them down with rough tackles. It backfired on them by ending up playing with only 9 men.

The referee calls were clearly biased, but that is not to say that the Korean fans or players had any say in it. If anything, FIFA wanted to appeal more to Eastern Asian audiences to market football there as well, for profit purposes. You probably watched a dramatic youtube video with sad music showing only the korean players fouling, when the fouls were 21 - Italy, 19 - Korea. The guy who was bleeding that game was hurt from his own teammate's elbow, not to mention the fouls the Korean players committed did not go unpunished, it's just that those types of videos cut it out. So please, the hilarious one is you, making a generalization like that. Home team biased calls have always been prevalent, it's not like it was unique to the Korean games. Italy, Germany, Spain have won most of their games when hosting. The tackles in just the Portugal games were outrageous too, it's just that people like you only tend to point out things the opposing team did wrong.

2002 world cup was shameful to what fair play was concerned. Not taking value to both japan and south Korea I don't think that without the scandalous way the referees carried them up the results would have been quiet different . Portugal very nervous because of the obligation to win but well aware of how selective the man in black were for the home teams .on top of that the poor judgement by the Portuguese throughout the game which the two exclusions are a clear sign. I want them to be treated like their neighbor's from the north were in 2010 .give them a show of football ( ps - less than 5-0 it's not acceptable)
