Portugal Life / Alentejo Hiking & Road Trip! (Part 1/2)

Daily life in Portugal April 2023: we packed up the car and went on a road trip with our dog through the Alentejo region of Portugal! We did a mix of hiking and seeing beautiful towns along the way. This vlog was getting a little too long so I decided to split it into two videos... here is part 1 :)

Our full itinerary:
Friday, April 7th:
Morning: Passadiços do Alamal (2.8 km / total out and back / easy) & picnic lunch
Afternoon: Trail of Conhal (12 km / circular / moderate-difficult*)
*I say difficult because of the heat. in cooler temps this would be a moderate hike.
Night: Sleep in Marvão - Hotel Dom Dinis (dog-friendly hotel!)
Saturday, April 8th:
Morning: Explore Marvão, lunch in Marvão
Afternoon: Drive to and explore Estremoz,
Passadiços da Serra d'Ossa (3.6 km / total out and back / easy)
Night: Sleep in Vila Viçosa - Hotel Solar dos Mascarenhas (dog-friendly hotel!)
Sunday, April 9th:
Morning: explore Vila Viçosa,
drive to Monsaraz
Afternoon: Trilho do Miradouro do Alqueva (5.6 km / circular / easy-moderate),
Explore town of Monsaraz,
Drive to and visit Reguengos de Monsaraz

Alentejo is like a whole country inside Portugal. It's even larger than Belgium, its as large as Israel and Lebannon combined, it is the largest region in Portugal, on the whole it's 1/3rd the whole of Portugal and two of its districts are larger than Lebannon and its larger than 5 american states.
