5:10 typical of the driving in Portugal. It used to be much worse in the '80s, though. So many near-misses on my XT500. Biking on your own: I love it. My woman doesn't understand. That's her lookout. Good value hotel for the night. Great, spacious room. Despite living in Lagos for the last 10 years off and on, I have never ridden this route. Another very good video, Marc.

N2 is da best route. But it gets better up north. Portugal has beautiful Alentejo in the south, but it is very flat, so roads tend to be less twisty. Then you have Serra do Algarve and you get to "little England" (All Garve as the local turismo called it once :) )... You would notice it more if it was summer time. About Maree... She is a keeper. She even likes to tag along your trips... Man... my wife hates two wheels on account of a bad experience when young. I almost have to ask for permission to go buy bread :) :) ... She always returns the usual " just do what you feel is right!"... And every one knows that is a trapp!!

Yes N2 is a must go but as an alternative you have the N120 that goes by the coast and has the best beaches and landscapes in all the country imho.

@@MarcTravels Itchy boots was one of the factors to pick up an REH, good niche bike, easy to run and maintain, with character, more capable off-road than people give it credit for, but as I am living in Europe with good fast roads I’ve found it underpowered and frankly even dangerous in fast heavy traffic without the extra punch for emergency situations… so riding to the twisties and off-road destinations or just hoping to another city to visit friends sometimes feels like a chore… I am looking for some mods like performance camshaft etc. at least for better acceleration, because I would replace it for and older tiger xc or something like that but I cannot find a buyer for the REH , so for better or worse im stuck with it hahha When on slow or rough/off-roads the desire to sell it disappears so at least I got that goin for me which is nice

I didn’t really plan my trip in advance, I wanted to go from Berlin to Porto to meet my girlfriend and from there, just down south and than the ACT. That’s all. One way to fix these separations is for you two to ride together! You "just" need a bigger bike, although you do not need a super large one. take care and keep going!
