At mine also.....its one of my favs by them. You should check out their official video of Sleep Forever, the first time I saw it I was affected emotionally by it for DAYS in the weirdest way afterward. Go watch it, you'll see what I mean.

Im back again Feb 2021 UK 2nd covid 19 lockdown. I'm suffering from the virus myself now. I feel like I just need to sleep forever myself right now so drained. This song holds a massive place for me in my life. It just feels right to be listening to it right this minute. There's nothing comes close to good live music to stir emotions, I'm not ashamed to say I'm sitting here feeling sorry for myself alone. I can't visit my dying father. To say I'm shedding a few tears is a slight understatement.

All of the musicians play so tight and classic live...reminds me of the classic Eagles concerts from the mid-late 70s. The tone on the lead guitarist's ES-150 is pristine, and I love all the unexpected bridges in the song.

+Mech-Productions is actually right. Sleep Forever is from In the Mountain In the Cloud, that was released in 2011. They released Evil Friends, which Smile makes part, in 2013. After the release of Evil Friends, they started mixing the songs, like the Smile chorus in an older song, like Sleep Forever.

This might be a tough question, but can someone help me on what scale they use on this song? Mainly the little guitar solos.

You mean like the actual musical scales? Or just how to play? Because there are a couple tabs out there that I saw as pretty accurate. The only thing is that the tabs are for one guitar, and as you can see they use two when performing. But from what Im seeing, John just does barre chords behind the actual lines, and then just plays the riffs in between. The lead guitar would be playing the line up around the twelfth fret of the B string. Thats how the tab lists it. but, on the 5th and 7th frets of the high E string you can also play it. And thats how I assume John does it between his strumming; Its the same notes. As for the chords he strums for rhythm, they should be in the tab. I hope this clarifies at least some of your question.

The song is in D I think. Chords are Dmaj, F#maj, Bm, Cmaj, Gmaj, Emaj. You can solo around an Dmaj scale and mix in B minor blues scale SHAPE (keep in mind D is the root note) I find works well if used tastefully. Let us know how it goes!

Pretty sure for the main riff it's a C scale, I know it's very close to the song Tennesee Jed's main riff but backwards

It modulates between D major for two bars (on the D & F#) then G major for two bars ( Bm C G ). Beware that A turns sharp when you hit the F# major chord because it is chromatic to the D major scale.

Their shows are usually a little more light show than stage presence. This one's just a little weird because it's "radio station staging" so they're just naked on stage, blasted with that spotlight.
