In the final season of Pose, time flashes forward to 1994. Blanca struggles to balance being a mother, a present partner to her new love and a nurse’s aide. I mean, sure, you informed them correctly, but something tells me that’s not the part of your reply that would stick in anyone’s memory or leave a lasting impression. Just because something is obvious or basic info for us in the community, doesn’t mean it is that for everyone else or for those who may be new or even allies and still learning what everything is all about. We can’t call out people for being ignorant and then simultaneously be disparaging and snide when they LITERALLY just ask a question! And, it’s not that hard to understand why anyone, LGBTQ+ or otherwise, might have some difficulty in fully understanding how a cis straight man and a trans woman would work as a couple or how that would even come about.
