‘Pose’ star Dominique Jackson discusses mentoring queer youth of color | Nightline

Jackson said that playing her character Elektra on “Pose” resurfaced personal trauma. The show’s iconic star Billy Porter shared last month that he’s secretly lived with HIV for 14 years.

Having lived through those times I barely got through Season 1 it was so emotional for me, yet I still loved it. I tried watching Season 2 & saw 2 episodes & had to stop it was too intense. Most of the stories are all too relatable. Dominique, Billy & the cast brought the well written scripts to life. I can't imagine what it was like to have to act them out like they did. True professionals, all of them!

I just finished watching this show for the 2nd time ❤ this show was so real and beautiful I remember crying with Pray and Blanca’s characters. I am not queer but I love to hear true stories express my empathy for others. It’s was bittersweet the show came to a end but the way each character truly related to their personal lives thoroughly was beautiful ❤❤ definitely will tune in for a 3rd time down the road for sure 🫶🏽

You all should check out the reality show Strut. It's about 5 transgender models and a transgender modeling agency. Dominique Jackson is one of the models. It came out before Pose. I give Dominique much credit for reclaiming her faith, and to the directors of Pose that projected ‘family’. At Middle age, I can see how that tenet is lost on some up and coming youth in the community now. This has always been a criticism of older 🏳️‍🌈 on younger 🏳️‍🌈 however. At 44 I see how and why that community anger is always such a friction point internally. It is what made Pose such a good series. That friction point was addressed in almost every episode. Privilege was not an option for the characters in that series, and is often not awarded to many LGTBQIA youth (in New York or Anywhere)…..how that dynamic is discussed and projected is so important. Being Trans is not a Musical or a ballroom for many, even if they sing and dance through the struggles. Its a delicate runway to strut. God is good.

Billy Potter is broken inside and sad. He needs help on getting out of drugs. I saw him with my own eyes in a Gay Atlantis cruise drugged to almost unconscious. He could hardly walk, and people carried him around like a doll. This was last year in 2023. I feel sorry for him.
