Great video and I bet it was amazing to visit the shop you got your shoes from. "Some repair work done, WW2?" Most of the damage to The Tower was caused by WW2, only the moat was damaged in WW1, it was breached in 1300s but the part I found amusing was "this thing is hundreds and hundreds of years old". Nearly a thousand! (976 years ago the White Tower was completed). 15:24 that's part of the original Roman wall that surrounded the now City of London. Do visit the Tower next time you come, it's worth it and allow at least a half a day. Also join one of the Yeoman Guard (Beefeater) tours. As a Londoner I enjoy watching videos of vistors' trips here, opens my eyes up to things I may not have seen or done before.

At 10pm every night there is the Ceremony of the keys at the Tower of London. A limited amount of people can attend each time, about 20. It's absolutely amazing to watch, only twice in the history of the tower it hasn't take place and that was during 2 nights of heavy bombing in ww2. It's when they lock up and secure the Tower for the night. you actually get shut in and have to go through a tiny hidden door to get out. After all the Beafeaters live at the Tower and need to come and go even when it's closed. Obviously I'm not going to say where it's situated..

london is far far older than 2000 years old, its so old we dont actually know how old it is. when you look at my town poulton le fylde in the north west of england that has existed for 12 THOUSAND years, but was granted township in 1086 but never gained a market charter despite being a market town. also the corperation of the city of london (the city of london is a corperation) is the oldest corperation in the world and no one knows who founded it or who owns it now.

There are still parts of the wall around the City of London and remains of housing. You barely saw London - It is 3 x bigger than NYC. You need a week to even see a good chunk of it.

London is arguably the greatest tourist city on the planet for sightseeing. You could visit twenty times and not run out of things to see and do. You'll find literally every nationality on earth represented in it's people, which can be both a good and bad thing about London. Around 71% of citizens are not originally from the UK, which makes it one of the most multicultural cities on earth but also means you have to leave London and visit the rest of the UK to get a more accurate experience of British culture. Lived there twice in my life. In the early 70s and again in the early 00s. It can be great to live there for a while, but if you stay too long, it's a city and culture that will make you pretentious. It's always good to move back out of London again to get your feet back on the ground.

London is absolutely fantastic - one of the most versatile, fascinating and amazing cities in the world. However, you'll probably have noticed from several of the comments here that some of our fellow citizens from the dull and dreary provinces permanently nurse an attitude of grievance and hostility to London and a giant chip on both shoulders because they are consumed by jealousy. Some blame immigration, but their attitude was no different back in the days before large scale immigration began. Pathetic, aren't they? There are lovely, fascinating places out in the sticks too, but they are no more "real" than magnificent London

@KlingConnection Not everyone in London has a posh accent. There is a very big misconception that British and especially English people are all posh. 8 of the 10 statistically poorest regions in Western Europe are in the UK. Im from Manchester in the north of England, half the city is pretty run down and poor, with row houses often with no front garden and low income housing. Just going to Central London, which is statistically thr richest place in Europe barring a few Central Paris Arrondissements will not give you a true picture of even how London really is. The Eastern Districts in London are far poorer than where you visited. That is the real london in my eyes.

Like all big cities, do the tourist thing for a few days then get out, there's plenty to see around the UK, especially off the beaten track. If you want the "British Seaside" head West to Devon/Cornwall there's proper sandy beaches there, if you're more outdoors person head to wilds of Central and North Wales or try a few days canoeing down the Rivers of the Marches or hiking in the Lake District and Yorkshire, into history, then visit dozens of Castles on the England/Wales border or go to the Black Country in the Midlands for Industrial museums, canals and history. Want more Cities then there's Bristol, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle etc...I understand when you're on holiday you have a budget and have time restraints to see what you can see and do, but seeing some tourists mainly American just do London, Stonehenge and then end up sitting on the pebble covered beach in Brighton. for some reason makes me sigh...a lot. 😀

20 years ago yes. Now overly gentrified and generic, too much crime and just basically run down.
@KlingConnectionАй бұрын
It's interesting how much can change in just two decades. Gentrification definitely has its pros and cons, and it's important to recognize both sides of the story.

No stay out of LONDONISTAN that place doesn't represent us English anymore and its a foreign country to us now sadly but if you want to see the real England go to Oxfordshire, Chichester, Winchester, Yorkshire, Cheltenham, Cotswold,Rutland,Wells,Leeds,Canterbury,The lake District,Cambridge,Derby,Lincolnshire,Lancashire,Manchester,Sussex Liverpool,Chester,Northumberland,Uxbridge and Cambridge and many more counties

Whereas London is full of fluent English speakers and educated people who can construct sentences. World travellers! Avoid small town racists who talk about Londonistan because they're scared of the rest of the world. Come to London.

If you had none of the british movie clips it would be alot better. They add nothing at all and are not needed. Just get on with the video without the clips. The music is not needed either its just a distraction. You never showed anything really apart from saville row A bit boring really.

im from the north of england, londoners arnt friendly to us northerners, i remember i was goign round the pubs and found myself i think it was in mayfair in this posh winebar with wine in racks all out where the customers where driinking and i had a pint, in my tracksuit in there, i had a broken foot at the tiem, and my phonbe battery died so i asked them to phone me a taxi, they said they couldnt do that as they wernt allowed, after discussing it with the manager, so i said ok, then can you give me a taxi numbner, and to which they told me they couldtn do as it was against the rules the manager also repeated this, so i said ook, i have a broken foot i cant walk, far and they just shrugged, so i thought right fook them, and ordered anotehr pint, and they told me it was my last pint pint there (i wasnt drunk it was like my second pint) but i didnt fit in there with all the fancy dressed people and being a northewrnber with a loud booming voice amidst the posh quite souther nfairies, so i went round the tables sittign down talking to the other customers, the staff and manager where HORRIFIED and withing 5-10 minutes i had a taxi waiting for me. which they paid me for JUST to get rid of me lol, and i got banned in a chiippy for talking to the people in the queueue, well i say talking i asked if they did gravy, to the other custoemrs, and they didnt, and they where discusted and escorted me off the premesis and told me not to return, with my chips. they told me i couldnt have fish as it took too longt and they wanted me out, they would sell me a portion of chips but i was banned for life.
