#FAQ Hi Olla ^^ Speaking of Positive Grid, I'm a Bias FX 2 owner and also purchased the Metal Signature Pack (with Keith Merrow, Jeff Loomis and your signature amp plugins.) I recently discovered that the amps and effects which were yours no longer support your name, being called "Frost Burn" instead. Is there a particular reason ? I know i'm maybe too curious, but i wonder ;) Thank you so much for all the inspiration and motivation you give us for so many years, cheers from France!

As a commentary, I think the extras are not only amps that come with the AMP, I think it comes with a bunch of Jimi Hendrix songs and tones associated with them along with the full tabs. So the device can do the auto switching of tones during the song in order to play the full song if it has guitar changes. It's perhaps worth to look at it a bit more in-detail ;)

Also, I teach in a lot of different places so it's nice to have something tiny I can carry around and not have to deal with plugging in. Hi Ola. Great review on the Spark Mini. You did overlook one of its biggest features however. If offers access to what it calls the cloud. You’ll see a icon of a mini cloud on the upper right hand side of the Spark App. Inside that cloud they claim there are over ten thousand pre programmed tone packages. I did a quick check after your review and found fifty one different Pantera tones. Some referred to specific songs “Walk” etc. some were programmed just to Dime or Dime solo. Some of these tones on the cloud are made and posted by owners you could make and post a Haunted tone if you wanted. Some are Positive Grid (most) presets. As for the Hendrix thing they had to enter into a license agreement with the Hendrix estate on a per user bases in order to get access to Jimmy’s catalog, image and sounds with his name. They have had other upgrades in the past and assured users the Hendrix deal was a one of. Future upgrades will again be free to all. Check out the tone cloud and maybe review if it’s a good collection and maybe even leave us a package or two. Keep up the great work. I’m a big fan and felt compelled to point out your oversight. Thanks.

Trust me, get a Marshall Kilburn ii + a fender mustang micro. It’s the ultimate on the go setup. It does what the spark mini wishes it could. This is not new tech.. there are many other bt speaker/amp combos . But instead of letting you pick the effects with buttons like the mustang micro you are forced to use the app to change effects.. which seems like a major PITA. and some amps / effects are considered “expansion packs” and cost upwards of $20 each to unlock. If you don’t have a lot of money this is decent, but I highly recommend a mustang micro paired with a Kilburn ii or stockwell ii .. more options, fewer pay walls, you still get line out, and 20h battery life vs 6h. Not to mention the Marshall is simply a higher quality, better built and more powerful speaker.

The amp itself sounds decen, literally amazing for its size. The app allows you to choose 4 of your favorite tones, then if you so choose, you never need to look at it again. This a sub $200 amazing guitar toy, phone app technology will likely last longer then the amp and the battery in it. The "Insane 6508" sounded very "Entombed" like, I can hear it with a low tuned guitar sounding a lot like Entombed's guitar sound :) What a cool unit for the money, it sounds a lot more than it's size lead you on. If this unit would have a built in external sound card so you also could use it to plug in your guitar to the computer and record stuff and use it with programs like AmpliTube and record to Pro Tools with it, this Spark Mini unit would be a "no brainer" for anybody starting to play guitar. I would like the Spark mini to have some more clean ambient guitar sounds, like some cool dreamy ambient kind of "Synth pad" sounds for a guitar. I have been hearing some really cool ambient reverb guitar pedals lately that sounds soooo amazing when playing guitar through them :) What more GOOD mobile amplifiers like this are there ? Do you guys know, like what good alternatives is there to this Spark Mini that sounds bigger than it is and you can bring with you outside like this ? And that comes with guitar effects and stuff like this one ? Also the 20 bucks to get 12 extra amps and some effects from a band / artist that you like is not too much to ask at all I think, but then the effects and amps must remind me at least something of the artist / band's sound that I like, otherwise what is the point. But for example 20 bucks for some Pantera / Dimebag amps and effects that makes that tiny speaker sound more like a Dimebag guitar I would by in a heartbeat without hesitating. Ola said in the video "We've been seeing more and more of these type of amplifiers coming out lately" I have not seen any others that compares to this one except the Boss Katanas maybe but I do not think they are really in the same league at all. Maybe I have missed some stuff ? What other bluetooth guitar amplifiers is Ola talking about that there are lots of out there ?

Now, we need to have Positive Grid do the same thing as Blackstar with that lil 3watt amp as it comes a stereo package, ext speaker to get actual wide stereo sound. This little amp would be perfect with just an ext cab to match for true wide stereo sound. Bam!

I just revisited this video because I need a small living room amp while I’m renovating my home studio and even though I would probably get the 40, I figured if Ola liked this one then the 40 would be ok. It’s either this or a fender lt40s which is a similar size.
@DJBuglip2 жыл бұрын
You can get that add-on pack for the big one, too. So, 12 more amps, with some actual control over them (you've got more controls on the full-sized version), I think it works.

Now try hooking it up to a external power amp with the line out (the headphone out has a line out mode) and into a 4x12!

I've got a Mustang V v2 and a Mustang I v2, and I'm pretty happy with them, but Bluetooth+app would be nice. Fender doesn't even support these amps with that Fuse software anymore (which I never even tried, since I use Linux). This tiny little amp would be perfect for my kid and his Squier Mini Jazzmaster FSR, but he'll be taking the Mustang I from me since I own it already. I am kinda excited to think of what amps will be capable of if/when the time comes for an upgrade, although I was considering a tube head... If I could find a vintage Traynor that'd be awesome, but I also like the Kraken... Decisions, decisions! (Also money...)

If they bring out new amps/pedals to buy, I hope they will have a Tom Scholz/Rockman/Boston package one day. That's one I would definitely buy as it is such an unique tone. Anything else I guess I can dial in pretty easy myself with all the amps and pedals that there are already in the software. Maybe an autowah would be cool. Even so there is a Com/Wah section there are no Wah pedals included - only several compressor pedals. I guess they will also appear in the packages you have to pay for (maybe there is already on in the Hendrix package).

Seems like a decent small portable amp, some sound is better than no sound. It sounds pretty horrible to me though, not sure if that's just due to the mic setup or if it really sounds that bad in person.
@chapeledrag91412 жыл бұрын
Hey, idk if I’m dumb but what do you need to connect your computer to your amp to use like the Gojira effects for example, like do I need a special amp for that?

They do in fact do free updates with new pedals and amps. Or at least they have done one or two so far. They added a Dumble on one. They are pretty cool practice amps. I am having problems getting it to play music via bluetooth and getting the interface to work though.
@douglasbaxter712 жыл бұрын
I am sure that you can also use this as an interface for recording into a DAW, so in that respect its got even more functionality for the cash.
@RolandDeschain12 жыл бұрын
Probably not, I know when I had the VOX VT20 and amp emulator software it wasn't usable in a DAW. And that thing sounded amazing, so I was bummed about that.

I dig my Spark, I have a Kemper, I’ve chosen the Spark over the Kemper for home recording. The Spark also comes in a white case, and there’s also a gig bag. I probably wouldn’t do a performance with this amp, I have but it was for an open jam. I wonder if the mini is also an interface? Amps like these are probably the reason Tube amp prices have shot up. Lol Olas faces

Spark over the kemper? What? Is it that good?
@sheharyarkhan23842 жыл бұрын
@@thecaptain464 Dude it's so hard for me to believe that it could be as good. Maybe it works for him. I don't own either but from watching videos the Kemper sound is so good.

I run my Spark 40 through a Headrush FRFR12 and it sounds killer after a few tweaks, and will almost certainly be using as a live rig with the Spark control using two wireless into a wah pedal and Ernie Ball tuner volume pedal, so a totally wireless/Bluetooth setup
@jasonday83342 жыл бұрын
@@thecaptain464 I agree with you on that. Kemper is like a Ferrari, and the Spark is like a Prius. The Spark is easier to move, I practice each day outside, I like to hook up my phone to listen to music, such as Olas live streams. The Spark allows for some decent sound to listen to the contenders each Monday, because of Bluetooth. I do also dig that I can jam along to jam tracks or whatever. I was very skeptical at first when I pulled the Spark out of the box. My first question was, “Where’s the rest of the amp?” I do love the Kemper, it does a lot of things the Spark can’t do, but when in need of a an amp that’s simple to hook up and take anywhere, and still has an amazing sound, it makes more sense to use the Spark, I’ll keep the Kemper for that sold out show in the arena.
@jasonday83342 жыл бұрын
@@sheharyarkhan2384 get down to your local music store and check them out, at least do that. You would be surprised. I have a whole storage unit dedicated to a PA system and Amps I’ve collected over the years. I love my EVH Tube, it weighs just about how much a small car weighs, which is fine it’s on caster wheels, but lifting a small car onto a stage gets old. The Kemper was a dream come true, hooked to a Marshall 1960a. I didn’t need another amp for gigs, I was tickled, on how well Kemper amps perform, amazing sound almost just as good as a tube amp. For just hanging out in an RV where I live full time now, the Spark is convenient for when you don’t have much space either. I was hosting an open jam here at the resort. I was going to hook my Kemper to a 2000watt JBL powered speaker. “OVERFKNKILL” I used the Spark to do open jams, people from all around the park could here that little booger, and they enjoyed listing. I also gifted a Spark amp to a good friend, made him happier than a tornado in a trailer park, it was a huge step up to his vintage Peavy 12” to old to tell what model it was, it sounded like ass compared to the Spark. All of the entry’s so far have been by using the Spark, maybe I’ll contribute an entry using the Kemper, that requires hooking it up to a interface and speakers. When all I have to do is plug the Spark in, hook a cable to my MacBook or IOS device and I’m in business.
