You can parry by striking as soon as they hit your shield, you can also swat weapons thrown at you out of the air and parry them as well.

I wasn't so sure about the music at first. The mixed fidelity between 8-bit and Rock didn't instantly hook me, but Mexico's stage theme really brought me around. It's nice to see the occasional shield moments. The devs are reinforcing the idea that it's a part of your abilities.

10:14 If you take the weapon, do you have to leave another one there or could you essentially "unregister" that checkpoint? Since you were at 0 lives anyway, having as many weapons as possible might have been a good idea. 15:00 I wonder if you can acquire the bosses' weapons by replaying their stages? EDIT: 17:55 *insert "Great minds yadda yadda" here* 21:30 Turn around and backdash? 22:10 The cutscene mentioned something about blessings for removing curses. So, maybe some kind of debuffs will come up eventually? 25:10 Knight Man, are you in there? Another armored warrior has come to challenge you!

- You can take the weapon without replacing it, simply unmarking the checkpoint. Good thought on the 0 lives! - Good ol' Knight Man, I remember the big spread in Nintendo Power as a kid when they had the contest to come up with new robot masters!

Yeah, Aztec names are hard to pronounce. The boss of Mexico was the Aztec ruler of the land of the dead. Kinda like a Hades analogue.
