After a long and brutal war, the Elf and Human Kingdom have enjoyed a long period of peace thanks to a peace treaty. This treaty lead to the foundation of The Partner Games. Every year, the human kingdom sends a random selection of people to the Elf Kingdom. They have 24 hours to escape the elves and the monsters that live in the forest. Anyone that manage to escape and survive can go home; any captured by an elf becomes their mate for life.

Probably because the popular examples of Yandere are more on the unhinged side. Since Yandere is a portmanteau of two Japanese words. The first is yanderu, which means “to be sick,” and the second is deredere, used here for “lovestruck.” Everyone leans in to the “to be sick” since less can be seen as just being possessive and not crazy enough apparently. Which can result in characters that don’t feel yandere enough. Yangire is a combination of the two words yanderu, meaning to be sick, and gire, meaning to cut, slice, or "to snap". Not motivated by emotion nor attraction more purely sadistic, and sometimes it seems people who try writing a Yandere accidentally write a yangire instead because they lean a little too far in the violent tendencies.
