i purchased this redcat the same day it became available from redcat website. I love this truck. remove the black spring retainers and move the top bolt of the rear shock two holes forward and one hole down. it will help with flex and soften the suspension

Much respect for the amount of work you gotta be doing to get these videos out each day. Dedicated pro. I appreciate it. It's also the first time I have seen you review a redcat on your channel. I'm not a redcat fanboy, but I do have and love their original Kaiju, and I'd love to see you get your hands on that one of these days... Your review holds more weight with me. Keep up the great work, happy holidays, and see ya tomorrow!!

Couple of things you can do to really bring the performance of this truck to the forefront. First, there are internal springs in the shocks. They are way too stiff and really limit travel. Get those things out of there. While the shocks are apart, get a package of Traxxas blue silicone o-rings (TRA3261) and replace the pair of stock o-rings in the bottom of the shock body. The stock o-rings are a bit oversized and when you tighten the bottom cartridge on, it compresses the o-rings and puts a bit of bind to the shock shaft. The Traxxas o-rings take care of that. I then put in some 30wt oil. Another thing that helps is getting the Losi Mini-T front spring set. I used the soft spring (pink) on the front and the medium (red) on the rear. Doing those things to the shocks alone make a world of difference in perfomance. Throw a HW 1800kv Fusion SE in there and you've got one great performing rig.

You can polish a turd ...but you have to spend a lot of money 😁
@bugman7210 ай бұрын
@@themountain59 No you don't. The two things I mention to buy for the shocks will cost you a whopping $20. If that's too much money to spend for someone, then they need to think about buying a WPL...or Hot Wheels. If you haven't driven one of these, I can see why your comment might be inaccurate.

Upgrade to a Hobbywing 1080 G2, run the BEC at 8.4 volts. The extra voltage will give the servo more speed and power and the motor more power. The drivability will improve dramatically because the 1080 is configurable so you get a professional crawler experience for $50.

in the model submarine world we always used 35Mhz FM radios as 2.4Ghz doesnt work under water hence the signal loss. fortunately most aircraft have now moved to 2.4 GHz. never been keen on the crawlers but this one has got my attention, nice one. One of the guys I regularly crawl with has one of these, the first time out he had it playing at being a submarine (4 ft lunch off a footbridge into a deep stream a few times!) and it survived fine A decent crawler too considering the spec of the ESC, although knowing him it'll have a Fusion fitted by now already. Tyres are the weak point on our local rocks but the suspension was fine. Up there with the Element stuff for RTR competency, pity there's no UK distributor as it should sell well.

From what I've seen, it looks fairly decent, but the geometry is all messed up (upper link and panhard configured wrong, for one), and the shocks need some serious tuning. And those steel rails are _heavy_, raising the cg. Would have been better using aluminium, or at least thinner steel rails. Those massive pumpkins on the portals mean they barely have any more clearance than a decent straight axle. So all you get is a higher cg, without the added clearance of a well built portal axle.
