This area reminds me of the Ouachita / Kiamichi / Winding Stair mountains of eastern Oklahoma and Western Arkansas // I’ve seen so many videos of the destruction of trees, hills, houses and lives / I wish the news would cover more as I had no idea this was going on until I found videos on KZbin

Does that railroad run into the quartz crystal mine. The quartz crystal mine is the only mine in the world that has that specific kind of quartz needed in All Electronics it's super important.

It was mainly used when I was younger to move coal through the area. I’m not familiar with the location of the quartz mine but I have read about it. CSX is the company, and they still operate through the area, but significantly less than they use to since coal mining operations have slowed down so much. It was a big deal when it slowed down because they were a big employer for people of Erwin and hundreds of people lost their jobs

@@droutdoors4560 You know they are manipulating coal prices by lowering the production. Somebody has brought a monopoly lawsuit against some of the big players like Black Rock and four or five others. Energy from coal can be very clean. We need double the energy we are producing right now. They're not putting that railroad back for nothing.🙂👍 Hopefully those mining jobs will be back before long. I come from a mining town myself. It's a big deal when the mine shuts down.

Erwin definitely needs someone to step in and bring some jobs back. CSX shut down probably 10 years ago, and now the flood washed the industrial park away which had a handful of buisness that were also huge employers for Erwin
