Post Shift 2 - A Confusing Mess Of A FNaF Fangame Part A ( Review/Retrospective )

I'm glad I finally managed to release this Post shift 2 video ( even though I separated it into 2 parts ). Hope everyone enjoyed it, even though people might think its not up to my Popee And Buddies video standards. I hope this video won't disappoint people, I feel like I set a really high standard for my videos after Popee And Buddies. The amount of support I've gotten for the past few days has been unreal so I want to thank everyone for all the support that I never imagined getting even close to but you guys managed to surpass it by a long shot.

It's just a usual case of a dev who has enthusiasm but no direction. He just add stuff as he goes along without stopping and look at the overral picture. As an artist I can somewhat relate to him. WIthout an overral draft/sketch, I often get tunneled into small details, shadding and trying to make it look good, only to realise once zoomed out it throw the composition of the whole art piece out the window.

This game is a perfect example of over scoping a project, lack of polishing, and poor mechanic teaching. All new game-devs should look at this as a cautionary tale and learn from it so they don’t make the same mistakes. Also the video was done extremely well done, your editing has improved a lot!

Yeah the game was so close such a solid fnaf fangame, the only thing that stopped it from that was the lack of explanation, messy mechanics and balancing. which are things that are easily fixable and might get fixed in a patch later but at least for me, my first time experience was ruined. I still hope the game gets fixed though, it would be a shame if the game was abandoned like this. Thanks a lot for the compliment aswell, I really appreciate it :D

@@Perrigate maybe have more nights dedicated to Part A's kind of content, so as to make the introduction to each threat more gradual and smooth? Not every FNaF game has to be over the course of 5+1 nights. Heck, some of Part B's nights are actually... daytime shifts, I think. Why not intercalate some of those? With proper mechanic explaining of course. I know this would've been even more complicated to fit into Clickteam's limited engine, but I think it could be just as varied, and not have Part A and Part B feel like two different-ish games, but rather as two halves of a full game proper.

Despite the overwhelming difficulty of this game, if there's one thing that I have to both Endless Inside and Post-Shift 2 kudos for is their impressively good atmosphere. Seriously, that like one of the few good things that I could say about both games given how unbeatable they are.

to me, the first 4 nights were perfect in terms of difficulty and gameplay, They were hard to understand but once you knew what you were doing they were easily the most fun part of the game. Night 5 was a bit unfair but the latest patch made it much easier. As for night 6, Its way to laggy for me to realistically be able to beat it. but judging from the tutorial, its obviously too overwhelming. the first 5 nights would be fine with just balance patches but night 6 needs a full on remake for it to be fun.

Just wanted to tell you: your current level of editing and overall video creation is on par with 50k-100k youtubers. Don't be self-conscious about it and don't force yourself to improve as fast as possible. You've got yourself a bunch of people that are interested in your videos and your way of making them. Just roll with it and be relatively consistent. Making intense schedules and force yourself to improve as fast as possible will only lead to a burnout. Awesome vid as usual, take care

I'd say his editing is actually on par with youtubers way above 500k I've seen some youtubers with zero editing or with zero commentary but have a bunch of the opposite with over 500k and this man has both, he's just a lil too small, youtubers are like viruses/diseases their growth is exponential, the more subs you have, the higher your sub count growth will get until you get to the point where doctors discover you and then start developing a cure and creating awareness (I'm using this game called Plague Inc. As an example but for this situation the doctors are the drama developers and the awareness is the amount of cult followers those drama developers have also youtuber's sub count growth would also be based off of several factors such as originality, personality, quality and this pretty much mirrors Plague Inc.'s 3 forms of developing your disease: Infectivity, Severity, Lethality. Isn't it poetic? Anyway if the youtuber and anyone else reads this comment just know that you are doing great and I truly do hope that you grow and I love your content, don't try and make content that appeases the masses, make what you enjoy making, play what you enjoy playing, and if someone suggests a game for you to play/review then check it out and think about how much fun it would be to play/review it and if it's enjoyment/mass appeasement ratio isn't equal enough then it might not be worth doing. Also pleassse don't stick to one genre unless you really enjoy that thing as then your fanbase might only consist of fanatics that will ONLY watch that genre (See Muselk quitting TF2 and all his TF2 fans shitting on him as an example) P.S. If I may make a suggestion for a game review, may I suggest this little video game called "West Of Loathing" Or "Darkwood" the latter is quite the commitment in terms of gameplay as it's a decently long game and if you play on the most difficult difficulty then you only get one life to try and beat the game (which is a lie as you'd find out if you played the game and got up to a certain point and then died) That's it from me sorry for dribbling a bucket of shart (man I sure do like to talk) hope you are successful (I did sub if that makes you feel good :)

The reason Post Shift A and B are separate parts is simply due to the engine being unable to handle the sheer file size of the game and as such it needed to be split into two parts. This was stated in one of the notepad files that comes with the game and states the following "Post-Shift 2 is separated into two parts, Part A&B (Clickteam limits)".

Came here because I became interested in the game from uhyeah, but was disappointed they didn’t talk about _why_ the game was bad. This video was great at dissecting the mechanics and between-night stuff. I liked the pacing, explanations, humor, etc. The video is a great length- long enough to really get into, but not too much of a time commitment. I mean, I would watch a super long video anyway since I like those too, it’s just that half hour videos are way easier to watch. Overall I feel like you did a great job and I look forward to the next part.

My only issue with that video was the interview he did with the creator. It came off as unintentionally rude and unpleasant to watch. Like I get that he was trying to give him an olive branch to explain the issues that he had with the game, but Rjac sounded so defeated and the whole interview was just dogpiling on him and just made his mood feel even worse. Now I’m worried he might end up stopping with making games overall cause of it. Granted I’m not pinning the blame on uhyeah solely but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the catalyst for Rjack quitting making games in general.

Iirc, the only animatronics active on Night 1 in the pre-patched version are Bonnie, Foxy, Minator Freddy, and Remnant Freddy. However, the tutorial for that night still tells you about her despite the fact you wouldn't see her yet. 🙃

Basically Bad Ending: Just beat the game without finding all the keys in the minigames and house, evidences in the house and finding all of the souvenirs Good Ending: Beat the game after finding all of the keys in all of the Seek Mayhem minigame and the key in the house that requires the fredbear plush, finding all of the souvenirs in the main nights and finding all of the evidences in the house and placing both rows of pictures in the living room (according to someone who has gotten the true ending you also need to beat all of the objectives in Part A as well? not sure but just in case), you need to complete night 3 again btw after doing all of this and get past the house segment to get on the good route. Resolution Ending: This is an ending i never want to try to get ever again, basically you need to complete all of the bonus nights to get this ending (Tip: There is a bug in the latest version of Part B which doesn't makes the first bonus night count when completed so you have to do this night on v1.0) There is only 3 endings as far as i know so yeah.

Five minutes in, and I just want to express how well-made this video already is. :-) Okay, having actually finished the video, I can actually put into words how it feels. A well-made video on any subject will be entertaining regardless of how interested someone is in said subject. I like how there's a balance of little cutaway gags and actual information where it doesn't feel draining to watch, like a lecture, but it's not an unending circus of attempts at being Funny[tm] either. Plus, I appreciate being able to see/read information presented before cutaways, instead of having to rewind five times and trying to pause at the right moment just to absorb the information.

I think nights 1-3 aren't that hard, and after some tries you should get comfortable with the mechanics of each animatronic. However, night 4 was rng hell, at least for me. Night 5 was really hard too but it didn't take me too long to create an strategy. I like Night 6 and its mechanics but it is unbelievably hard and the most rng based.

In my opinion Post Shift 2 is a great game to me because when it was released I downloaded the game and I enjoyed the game so much that I considered it my favourite FNAF fan game. Honestly there were major flaws in the game like the instructions being confusing or not even telling you what the next step is. However I still admire on how good the characters models look they look great and creepy at the same time. I do also like the different locations for this game it looked really awesome and great and it also had replayability in it. Some FNAF fan games like Oblitus Casa, Final Nights 4, and Tealerland they had different ways of replaying the game and post shift 2 is one of the FNAF fan games that uses replay value for the game.

Great video on the first part of this game! I'll say this, the game looks good, and I do get what the dev wanted to make. It's just that the mechanics feel too conflicting with each other that managing all of them probably feels more based around luck than skill. And of course, the text walls, no one likes those. But, all things considered, Part A is actually the easiest part of the game, and the easier overall to understand. ...good luck with Part B, dude. I think if that sentence mechanic (for Minater Foxy, I THINK?!) wasn't in the game, or if the options were the sentences themselves and you just had to click on the sentence, the game would be MUCH easier, especially on Night 3. Edit: what I think would also help would be for the drone, it would be directed to all of the animatronics instead of just one of them. Also, in my opinion, the drone should ACTUALLY WORK for One Eye (I know, very controversial thing to say, am I rite 😏) whenever he does his One-Eye Seek shit.

This is the problem for each animatronic in general - they require too many steps to be dealt with. This makes it so that the slow running animation accumulates time, this makes it that the tutorials become huge walls of text to (badly) explain what you're supposed to do, this makes the RNG hit worse.

Still didn't play part b because it doesn't work for me but I love part A so much!!! I only had two problems with it. 1: The worst explaining in history of games, thank god I knew mechanics before playing the game because it wouldn't gone well if i didn't 2: Even at night 3 I was watching tt till 2AM because nothing was happening, literally This game was beautiful, it was too much for my computer ngl but its not games fault. Just a Tip but its better if you resumed the diolog of a charecter instead of leting it rant for a while, its best to use them to show points or arguments but thats what I think
