After hurricane Francis & Jean hit the East coast of Florida (2 weeks apart) we went to the beach. I carried about 40lbs of shells a mile or two back to the truck with a mesh bag I brought. Scored about 12 volleyball sized conch shells, a handful of baseball sized ones + many smaller shells. I gave some away but still have 2 really nice ones and about 4 decent ones. I've lived here since 1985 and it was a shell fest of a lifetime!

Most of the stumps were “dead” before Hurricane Ian. These barriers islands have been damaged by several storms over the years. The root systems of our mangrove trees are awesome though! They stay in place and hold the island together, preventing erosion. Also…they catch the seashells!!

We do not sell shells. The guests on each tour gets to take all the collected shells home, even the ones found by the guides. What they do with them and how they enjoy them at home is complete personal preference.

Prayers from Alaska! Question…how can a person like me know the difference between a banded tulip and a true tulip? I’ve never shelled anywhere other than in Alaska.
@treasureseekerstours
@treasureseekerstours 2 жыл бұрын
Good question! A good indicator is the True Tulip has a texture to it whereas the Banded Tulips are smooth. Also, there is a color difference; Banded Tulip are mottled with defined and obvious stripes whereas the True Tulip is usually vibrantly one color. True Tulips can also grow much much larger than Banded Tulips.

Very rarely. More common on east coast of US. Gulf of Mexico doesn’t have a lot of tumbled glass.

How can you be sure there aren't any critters in the shells? One time I came home with some shells and discovered a tiny crab in one. I tried to keep him alive and so I could return him, but he didn't make it :(
@treasureseekerstours

Every time you pick up a shell, always look inside. Small crabs are hard to detect so accidents do happen occasionally.

Sad that the water wasn't as beautiful as it used to be, but this too shall come back on time! P.s. I loved your nail color as a backdrop against the shells you found! Sooo pretty! I am totally getting that color nails next year when summer begins on hand nails and toes! ( : Great video! I just subscribed! ( :

What is the best way to display your shells?
@treasureseekerstours
@treasureseekerstours 2 жыл бұрын
Most of our gusts use glass jars, vases or make artwork with their shells like mirrors and frames. Complete shells make nice decor for coffee tables or to display on shadow boxes.

@@57msdeb I thought it was going to be more than shoving people off the boat. A tour suggests to me that information about the location, how somebody who is going to visit would find your tour interesting. What sets your tour apart from your competition? The shells are beautiful but with a beach house I didn’t see any I need to add to my collection. @Treasure Seekers Tours sorry I didn’t see your request for constructive criticism. It was not what I expected and my expectations may have been unrealistic.
