The game definitely has improved a lot, but most of it came when I was already done with it. 😅 I'm happy for the new players who get to enjoy it fully right from the start though! I just hope the next entry in the series will be a bit more polished, even if it takes longer before the release! I get so excited just thinking about the eventual next game. 😆

I definitely agree with the 2D portraits.. it’s too hard to connect with the 3D models and I love 2D portraits in games like this too much to overlook that. I really don’t understand why they decided against them.

I get mad too !!! Specially when they add the additional bachelor's as they don't know each other and no social connection between them at all 😡 !! It's like cut & paste into the game just to fill in the blanks!!! I finished the game but it was disappointing to me and I rank it as C- ... NOTHING COMPARES TO THE OLD ONES !!!! I like that the game kind of has less going on compared to Trio of Towns. I like not having multiple types of soil, fertilizers, and crop circles because that was overwhelming for me. I like the variety of crops, recipes, and wild items and I like the museum in concept (execution was just bad, but Animal Crossing set an extremely high bar). I liked revitalizing the town. I liked how things were unlocked naturally through gameplay. I actually don't really mind the makers now that stacking is possible, though making multiple items at once within one maker would be much preferred because you still need a ton of makers to capitalize on timing. What I don't like and the reasons why I'm reluctant to play it again is mostly due to the lack of organization in the crafting menu. Who tf thought it was a good idea to have no sorting options? Even when I didn't have every item I was getting really confused looking for what I needed. The trees and rocks and wild items (sugarcane, salt, etc.) grow back too fast and the big ponds refill too fast, so I always feel like I am wasting all my stamina on keeping things neat more than mining, especially in the early game. I'm not even slightly creative and I never cared for the farm customization aspect, so I was leaving a lot of room for things to grow simply because I didn't know how or where I wanted to lay things like fences and paths down (I ended up playing very little of New Horizons for the same reason). I miss crop and animal festivals. I didn't even want to marry anyone because I didn't care about any of the characters due to the romance events being so short and lack of dialogue. The bachelors' events in Trio of Towns literally made my heart race! But I get nothing here. I don't think this entry was HUGELY disappointing to me, but I didn't even finish one year before I got tired of always cleaning up my farm, struggling to craft what I needed because it was hard to find, and I didn't care for any of the townspeople.

It's good to know that you enjoy different aspects than I do. Really reminds me that people's taste in playstyle can really vary from individual to individual. For example, I personally didn't really care for the museum that much at all haha But I agree that this feature does have potential, since collecting items or critters has always been pretty fun. But I'd prefer to have some sort of photoalbum that we'd have to fill with different animals, critters or maybe even wild plants. There are also a lot of points you mentioned that I 100% agree with, such as the endless clearing of your fields, the messy crafting tab and I often also didn't really feel inspired to plan and decorate such a huge farm area 😹 And as for Trio of Towns... I know EXACTLY what you mean 😩💖 The feels were so real back then.. I'm really hoping we will get another taste of that in the next installment of the series... I really want some romance back 🥺

Oh yes! The game it's quite different from release day in many many aspects. I think that is easier than previous story of seasons games. I have no problem with the game pacing, and the game don't really penalize you for not doing things one day or not doing something on time or stay up too late... I do like the game. Also keep in mind that I do speedrun, and even playing casual I use many tricks and speedrun techniques that make the game experience quite different! Thanks for the video 👍

Thank you for this video! I actually preordered the game, but decided to play it after the updates for the 'best' experience. And while I applaud the developers for putting so much work into these updates, I cannot help but wonder how it even got to be so 'bad' in the first place? So far, no other farming sim has been able to give me the same feeling as the old Story of Seasons games have, and I wish that the developers would really think about why people loved SoS. I also hope that the series doesn't take the same direction as Animal Crossing, where life sim elements have been slowly lost in favour of decoration & customisation (at least that's how I've been perceiving it). On a different note: I personally don't mind the lack of 2D portraits, since my favourite game (Animal Parade) didn't have them, but I can agree that AP at least had cute animations that showed a character's feelings.

One possible theory that came to my mind was that the developers could've been pushed to release the game at said release date? So maybe they didn't have time to polish it as much as they had wished to. But that's just an idea. Because I also partially feel like the devs are looking for the ''wrong'' direction for inspiration for their game, like you said, ex. Animal Crossing. So maybe the success of that game really made them think that the whole decorating apect is what we want. And maybe that's partially true for some of us... But I'm totally with you here; because I'm also not a fan of putting the whole decorating aspect into spotlight, instead of focusing on the social aspect and atmosphere of the world. ):

@@CloudySkiesGaming Oh yeah, there's a good possibility that higher ups just wouldn't let them postpone the release, as sad as it is. I just hope that with the release on multiple platforms, they can get some more polish on future games (I dream of another SoS game as gorgeous as the Doraemon one). And Animal Crossing maybe, but I was wondering whether Stardew Valley was an influence. I mean, Trio of Towns already had plenty of customisation compared to the Wii games, but I feel Stardew still allowed more, and since that was so successful maybe they were like 'We need to be more like SV'? Although I don't know how popular SV is in Japan/Asia... Also another thing I just remembered about the makers: since I haven't played the game my judgment is more based on SV (since I heard they're basically the same as the ones in SV), but I think they are so hideous xD And I also feel like they sometimes give some shops in town much less purpose (at least in SV), especially combined with crafting. Which, in turn, affects the social aspect again in a way 😅

The game has become better but I genuinely wish we had a free moving camera or atleast have an ability to make the camera not return to the regular position. I hate the top down view angle in this game so much. I don't mind switching over to animations but it'd be so much better if we had unique animations for each marriage candidate in the least.

Your intro is absolutely adorable! I agree with you completely. Overall I just wished for.. more in this game. That doesn't mean I find it bad, but I noticed that I didn't enjoy it as much as the older Story of Seasons games. I think there has never been a SoS game that I loved more than Tree of Tranquility. In the beginning I felt the charm of it in PoOT, but it faded pretty quickly and I think that's the main reason why I personally got so disappointed by the game. Also I will never stop longing for the 2D portraits XD I looooved seeing the different facial expressions of the characters, especially the blushing faces, those have always been a favourite of mine. :D

I got this game a month ago and enjoying it so I'm glad for all the updates already in place. Only problem I've had is that I think there is still a glitch with marriage. I proposed and got to choose my wedding outfit and wedding date. But now it has been over a week and nothing.

Oof, but you can only stack up to 10 of one item at a time. The og sos and even past entries had mechanics where a lot of these makers weren't necessary. In the first SoS you could stack more than 10 of 1 item in a product maker. In fact, you could stack multiples of several different items and then be alerted when it's finished processing. The wood makers are unnecessary since we never needed to process the wood we cut in previous games, and if we did, it was just using the axe on the wood. Same with stones, the only draw back was using up stamina. But considering the skil lvl up system we had in poot, had wood and stone gathering stayed the same we would have cut but the stamina use with not only the usual tool upgrades, but the fact the higher a skill with a specific tool (logging=axe mining=hammer) we used less stamina. I also feel like certain makers, to save space should have been able to be placed in barns and coops where you'd think to find them. Like in tree of tranquility and animal parade the butter and cheese makers were found in your barn. Mayo maker and incubation for eggs in the coop. The makers for processing threads and cloth and dye are fine, the makers to process gemstones makes sense. But things to make oils use to just be cooking recipes, and this would have been a great game to bring back the windmill and watermill from tree of tranquility/animal parade to process the flour, wheats, pepper, sugar, coffee, cocoa, etc. I had high hopes for this sos game, it could have brought back mechanics that were well liked across several different games, went all out as it was the first sos for the switch. And that's not even considering the lack of staple festivals, or the shortened seasons....DO YOU KNOW HOW ANNOYING IT IS NOT TO HAVE THE DAY YOUR ACTUAL BIRTHDAY LANDS ON NOT BEING AN OPTION TO PICK???? what did they have against days 29 and 30??? Where are the seasonal crop festivals? Farm animal festival, fireworks fest, fishing fest, cooking fest, hell a clothing fest??? (Sos had a fashion show for goodness sake)

LOVE the video!!! Thanks for all the content! I loved Pioneers of Olive Town , I do think it needed/ needs a little more polish. Especially coming from the 3ds Story of Seasons games. I think that it's a decent entry in the genre way better than the recent Harvest Moon game that kept crashing on my switch. I wish they had added character portraits...........that hurt me more than anything else. It's definitely not the top game but, is far from the worst farming sim.

@@CloudySkiesGaming well I got the game back in May in 2021 & I started off with 1.0.4 & I knew there was a update for the game so I have to be a part of it for the update & the rest of the game is really fun & I’ll send u a photos of me & damon & i know he is having a sad day from yesterday but seeing new faces will cheer him up ☺️ & I end up playing trio town & that game was overwhelming me so much but the farming is cool but the marriage candidates are awesome & heart event are cool some are my favorites so far & I get goosebumps when I watch a dating cutscenes & getting married in a video game but I was fine after & I hope you enjoy your day today ☺️

I'm sorry that you are having issues with the subtitles! This is the first time that this error has occurred, but I couldn't manually fix it. 😭 As for the Social Aspects, I said that I generally really liked the character design and everyone's personalities. But before the updates got released, it was hard to feel connected to them, not only because they removed the 2D character portraits, but also because the dialogues were a bit bland and the heart events short. Also, unfortunately the number of festivals has been reduced significantly compared to previous Story of Seasons titles, so it's a bit saddening that we can't look forward to those anymore and enjoy them with our residents. Positive about the updates is however, that the devs added a lot of new dialogues and after-marriage-events, which enriches our interaction with the characters and includes heartwarming scenes. Finally, they also introduced the 3D chat camera to us, that shows us a zoomed-in close up of the character that we're talking to and we can enjoy our favorite characters showing different facial expressions and emotions. So overall, I now really enjoy all of these changes they've made in terms of character interaction 😊👌

I like how this game give us a lot of things to do from the stary but the dlc feels weird, all the dlc character not integrated to the olive town at all its like they live in their own zone. I come to play this game after spend a lot of time play SoS 3oT, grand bazaar, and Tale of 2 town and it feels this game is bland compared to the previous series that i play. Lack seasonal event, meankngless heart event, and the ambience too boring

Thanks for this review, I wanted to see how the game was now. Sadly still not going to buy it. This game and also the Animal crossing games, feel like half none-finished games. With a live service motto attached to it. And then finding out, o that does not really work, unless people already are expecting that kind of things, like from certain triple AAA developers. They should have looked at ff15 and backed off from it.

Hmmm honestly, it depends! In case you're a fan of the older classic SoS characters from previous titles, it can be quite nice to have them back in PoOT. On the other hand, people were hoping for more exploration and getting a world extension by adding the DLC maps.... In that case, I wouldn't really recommend the DLC to you. The worlds are really pretty isolated from the base game, kinda empty and not interactable at all... so that's a bit of a shame. It's entirely up to you and what you'd want from your game :)

Honestly, the dialog is bland. In trio of town, the conversations can get spicy ( made me blush) especially with Ford and Ludus. Ralph abd Neil's dialogs are pretty ok but everyone else is very plain Also, who sleeps on top of the bed sheets. Would be nice to have some intimate moments, hugging, kissing, and whatnot. Would be nice if some make mods to make it better
