Hello very usefull tuto, on windows ;) Just one thing wal_level doesn't use "hot_standby" now ( v14) use "replica" and "wal_keep_segments = 10" is deprecated from v12, if present the server (master or slave) doesn't start. Even, now recovery.conf file is deprecated. The restore command and primary conninfo are in the postgresql.conf. The "standby_mode" switch is replace by a file to create (near conf files) with this name : "standby.signal". The archive folder can be on master with shareover network with postgres user.

Is there a way to do this from a Windows OS to a Linux OS? Preferably without slony or pgpool or similar tools.

Yes, of course you can put the Archive folder directly on the Slave, but I wanted to show a situation where the Archive is not on the master or the slave

Hi, I have the same problem - slave don't start. Did you fix that problem?
@ngotuanhien7 жыл бұрын
I got the same problem when started the slave service. I checked the system log and found that the login account password to run the service on the slave server was not correct. I fixed it and it run smoothly. Another possibility to error might be of the difference between login account of the slave server and the credential to read the share "archive" folder on network shared drive (Linux like account). If the service on slave server could not access the shared folder on start, it would stop the service. Hope this help!
