massive respect for going back and checking out the stuff you missed. I think a lot of the game’s real charm comes from its replayability due to the amount of content that isn’t directly shown to you. I have hundreds of hours and I still find stuff I haven’t seen before, like an out of the way weapon with an interesting moveset, or a rare boss attack animation
@PostMesmeric Жыл бұрын
Lots of stuff is carefully set behind the veil and I truly appreciate the devs for doing that. Feels all the more valuable when you discover it. Thank you!

I'll never get tired of watching Dark Souls videos and hearing people talk about their experiences. There's just something magical about the series.

Hope you'll go through ds2 next, many just ignore it completely cause it's commonly known as "the bad one" but it's really a gem of game.

Praise the Sun indeed! I think my favourite thing about the soulsborne games is that they are all so multifaceted, similar yet distinct, and I experienced them all in such close proximity that there is no way I've seen every corner, or can even fully distinguish which contains what. They feel like there is a constant supply of new experiences even just through forgetting what is on offer after enough time. One day I'll be back into these games and I fully expect them to feel like new again. They really are something special.

It can feel overwhelming, yeah, but they're worth taking your time in. Lots to experience. Thank you!

Time flies with Dark Souls on the brain, right? And I have some other games I'm considering for this format in the future. Thank you for the kind comment!

I never really replayed any games before I got into these games. There's just something so captivating about the way they build their worlds. I still stop and look around when I'm playing and to this day keep finding cool little details. May you find your worth in the waking world.

What I appreciate most about Dark Souls' design approach is being okay with allowing the player to miss stuff like this. Finding ash lake for the first time after 3-4ish playthroughs is something else.

The clams at the bottom of Ash Lake actually drop purging stones. It's a nice touch, especially considering how severe curse is.

I remember how amazing it felt to know that the weapon I found early on in the game, the scimitar, could be my main used weapon up until the end of the game just by investing in my build. I was so used to “viable” path and “non-viable” paths in RPG type games that to have such an early game weapon carry me until the final fight blew my mind. Also similarly to your situation I didn’t get into souls until many a year after it’s initial release. I can now consider myself a huge fan of soulsborne games (despite my lack of experience with many other games in the series). I have completed dark souls 1 3 times, Bloodborne once, and Elden Ring once. (Currently on a new game with a brand new character cause my first one was a spell casting cheeselord 😂). While I know I have much to go to enjoy all that fromsoftware has offered….. it’s hard to go from game to game when just one game from them has so much to explore and learn!

Once again easy to miss (especially without the community notes) but there's a hidden wall in Manus' cave where you can find Sif at an earlier stage. Time for tears.

Still haven't gone back since beating the Bell Gargoyles some time last year, but man your videos tempt me to try and cut further. Surprised you went back, but glad you did. I'll look forward to your next Dark Souls adventure.

Yeah, I'd give it another try if you feel. The game improves a lot beyond that boss fight.

I'm about to finish my first playthrough. I came across this video after watching your old retrospect. I love how you have capture and describe the experience. I love this game and already thinking about NG+. Rarely you find a game that you have to grind through just to have the instant desire to give it one more go. Love it. This is a great video for a great game

i love these reviews, not as much as i love these games tho, i cant wait for you to review the other souls games, for as much as i love DS1, my favorites remain DS3, bloodborne and sekiro and i cant wait to hear your opinion on those games as well

Ok now do 2024 but with magic, different weapon, and actually try to do the npc quests. It’s fucking rocket science to compete then all in one playthrough

Playing the DLC on NG+ for the first time makes it a lot harder, the royal wood is a lot less cheap on a normal playthrough

I've noticed that I've been making the game harder for myself. I was admittedly still learning, though.

Did you realize the similarities in the areas of the DLC and main game? For me it was a really good "Wait a minute..." moment.

That part really blew my mind. I want more games to do that.

@@PostMesmeric He means that Darkroot Garden and Basin *are* the Royal Wood. Where you fight the Hydra in the future is where you fight Kalameet in the past. Alvina's building is there, though slightly more intact (and she even shows up to show you where young Sif is held captive...if you find that place. You can even summon Sif to help you fight Manus.) Oh yeah, where you fight Artorias? That's where you fight Sif in the future. Oolacile *is* Darkroot.
