Thank you for basic videos like this one. I’m 5 year since the surgery, affected hand can rest relatively flat, but movement is still very, very, limited. Having videos like these are encouraging and helpful. Thank you ❤

Thank you so much for another great video! I just had another round of Botox a few weeks ago, and fortunately, my fingers are looser. I’m so grateful for a video that is perfect for where I am today. I went to a Stroke support group meeting yesterday and recommended you again both to the other survivors, but also to the OT’s that were there. Everyone wrote down your name it was super excited to find out how awesome your videos are and how much you’re contributing to people’s recovery

So my hands can open. But my thumb and forefingers are bent. I can move them a little. What do I do then? My arm is always towards my body and my hand does not relax. What do I do with that?

What's the difference between occupation therapy and physiotherapy
@PostStrokeOrg
@PostStrokeOrg Жыл бұрын
Great question! These are the basic definitions that don't cover all the facets of what these types of therapies can do. Physical therapy or physiotherapy is primarily focused on treating physical aspects with exercise, physical activities etc., to improve muscle strength, range of motion, pain, and gait. They are the physical health experts! Occupational therapy is focused on making sure someone is as independent and functional as possible in their daily lives, whether it's being able to take a shower, make a meal, or care for a child. OTs accomplish this in many ways including exercise, teaching compensatory strategies, education on improving mental health, etc. Hope this helps!

What if flattening my hand on a surface causes my wrist to curl? Have been having trouble with my wrist extension. I've been told my flexors trigger when I try to use my extensor. Unsure on how to remedy.
@PostStrokeOrg
@PostStrokeOrg Жыл бұрын
You're not wrong there. It may be that you work on the first few stretches and the active open exercise (if you're able) and skip the flat hand exercise for now. I'd recommend reaching out to your doctor about other methods that may be helpful to lessen the flexor spasticity. You may need more intervention than exercises/stretching alone.
