Most confusing. Guess that means I get to watch again. Nice job. Thanks for putting these videos out there.

Thank you for preparing the video, and it's fantastic. Aside from a bewildering numbering system, this is the ultimate tracking guide for enthusiasts. It narrows the field by identifying and selecting models that provide the information of knowledge by year manufactured, number identity and powered capacity of the engines, and it's helpful in track planning and purchasing.🙂

Well that clears up something...not sure what yet😂 You were crystal clear showcasing Lionel's chaos. Appreciate the breakdown and summary. It must have taken quite a while to get all this info together.

Thanks!! Because of the chaos I was hesitant to share, but so many commenters asked for it, so...

Thanks, Mike. I bet that took some time to sort out. My head is still spinning. I've often contemplated the reasoning behind Lionels diesel numbering system. Thanks for taking the time to sort it all out. However, I'll need to watch this again to fully grasp the order that Lionel used to assign to certain models. It seems it helps to know when each model was introduced.

Oh my, all those numbers, all those models, all those numbers and models. My head's spinning, I need to go and lie down! Just kidding Mike! (Except for the lie down part!) A fun presentation! And like like the "Young Einstein" spokesman you found! Thanks for posting!

As for theGG1, It was a 4-6-6-4 in Whyte notation and 2-3-3-2 in UIC (european) notation. Yup!

Not many people ever notice that.

Here's a theory that I have--the 22XX (the X represents a generic number) represents that it only has one motor.

I have found the Lionel 1654 will not operate on the 5021/5022 manual switches.
@ToyTrainTipsAndTricks Жыл бұрын
Hmm, there should not be a clearance problem. Are you referring to power interruptions?
@banjomanmi76-hu8wf Жыл бұрын
@@ToyTrainTipsAndTricks There is a clearance problem. It is noted on the OGR forum for Lionel part 6-65021 and 65022. It will stop dead.
@ToyTrainTipsAndTricks Жыл бұрын
@@banjomanmi76-hu8wf After further review, it appears that the #1654 uses a single-reduction "Fat Wheel" drive similar to many Marx locomotives. This is not shown in the Lionel repair manual. As such, it will have difficulty passing through any Lionel. O or O27 turnout made after 1952. Marx 1590 metal turnouts will work, as will Lionel 1121 and 1024 types. You learn something new every day! I did not know there were any Postwar Lionel locomotives with these drives.

I love hunting down F3s, though it sucks as I go further and further down the list, they become more scarce and expensive lol. At least for now, I have managed to tick off all the ones I really wanted (Santa Fe, NYC, Texas Special, Wabash and Rio Grande). Trainmasters and Electrics, I'm fine with getting MPC version or Williams repros as some of those like the F3s are way beyond what I can afford in some cases.

You confirmed what I thought was a bit screwed up numbering system Lionel had. Yes I followed your explanation but it is not something one will retain. LOL😊

The passenger train cars in the movie were made by A T&T because Lionel copied the cars and later they made their own passenger cars. They should have made the GG1 scale size required 042 curves.Lionel could have sold new track to go with them. A scale size GG1 with Magnatraction and 2 Pulmor motors would be a great 😃👍 locomotives. Super pullers.
