I never comment on anything, but I felt the need to after watching this webseries. I've been dying to find a lesbian one that I actually connected with. I've watched so many. I really don't understand why every show based on a group of friends who are lesbian have to have a character like Mel. They are terribly selfish people. Examples: Shane from the L Word, Frankie from Lip Service, Darcy from Starting from now. Then, their actions are blamed on their broken past. Watch Mel's history be the same.

Yeah... but look at their family background and past traumas. For example, knowing her narcissistic and womanizing dad no wonder Shane's gone through women like tampons since she was 14.

LandiThe, I fully empathize with your comment and liked your observation on the pattern you note in different shows. The past does shape the beliefs and behavior of a person. But the past - including parental influences - need not rule that person. Life has shown me that people blame their past experiences and parents in order to avoid growing up and taking responsibility for their own choices and actions. Breaking free of our past is not easy. But it is easy to blame others. It is best not to judge or to wait for such people to see the folly of their ways. Best to let them fight their own demons and protect oneself by not buying their excuses or explanations for their disappointing behavior. In this episode, it was such a relief to see Beth walking away from the tantrums of her friend. Had Beth stayed, she would have not only betrayed herself, but also behaved as an enabler for someone choosing to disrespect her as well as her guest. Going forward, I hope that steering clear of cliches the makers of this series do not try to win empathy for the noncommittal, childish character by pinning her behavior to some past trauma or negative authority figure.
