It's because he's marketable and a good player. I would imagine he makes a lot more money from sponsorships than he ever does as a poker player. As long as he maintains his position as a great player this sort of audience outreach actually helps him earn more money.

Great job, especially showing the last hand against Katz. Showing where you make a good decision, and the other player still makes a better hand is respectable. Sometimes it seems that KZbin instructional poker videos tend away from spots where the pro doesn't win. I've respected you for a long time, Daniel. Well done!

I have been watching your Online Tournament streams where you explain what you are thinking and why you made the choices you did. Its been very helpful in nailing down what opponants likely have based on their position and how they bet/react to other's bets. Its made me realize that perception is more important than reality for 99% of game. I started playing like I actually had the best hand, and I got better at sniffing out who actually does before I am stuck. Its difficult sometimes cus my home-game crew are a bunch of 🐟 who don't think 4th Dimensionaly. They are tough to nail down a range cus they don't really have one and they will play a pair of 6's the same as a full house. 😆

You see, in poker, you always have to be thinking ahead, always trying to find the best play. And sometimes, that means going all-in, taking a risk. But when you do it right, it pays off big time. That's the beauty of the game. It's like, you're always making decisions, always trying to find the edge. And that's what keeps it exciting, you know what I mean?

It's been interesting watching this series of videos. I would almost swear Daniel read the Dao of Jeet Kune Do. He's utilizing a lot of "styles" here (ICM, GTO, small ball etc) and somewhat ignoring the constraints of each. "Jeet Kune Do favors formlessness so that it can assume all forms and since JKD has no style, it can fit in with all styles. As a result, JKD utilizes all ways and is bound by none. Likewise, it uses any techniques or means which serve its end." Bruce Lee in the Dao of Jeet Kune Do.

Looked at the solver, in MTT’s calling with 65s on button against a lojack raise is actually ok even with only 20 bb effective. And I think this has todo with the fact that this stack depth on the button you only have jams as a 3-bet so you need some these hands to balance your calling range

@CanariasCanariass
@CanariasCanariass Жыл бұрын
You can check the equity of his hands vs different ranges with Poker Software. Of course you will never know the exact range of your opponent and even a pro like Daniel will not get the equities totally right but he probably knows roughly where he is at, in this case his equity vs 65s was 37% on the flop iirc. From this on it's a simple calculation. Let's say theres 40k in the pot and Katz jams for 100k more. So Daniel has to call 100k to win 240k. If you calculate this, its 100/240 = 0.4166. So if Daniels hand had an equity of 41.6% he would break even on this call. His equity is 37% though, so he would be losing money by calling. If his equity was higher than 41.6% it's a winning call. (Disregarding ICM or whatever other factors are relevant to a MTT).

71......... the last one killed me, I just can't find enough bluffs in the villain's range here, what hands am I getting to fold here with aggression? I think this question is very "player dependent" ....... if you know someone has a high fold frequency to aggression, above 60%, then raising is always the play. On the other hand, if you know a player is doing this 90% plus for value it's an easy fold. 80% of the people I play with are never bluffing here and 70% of the time aren't folding to a raise. This is one of those GTO spots where they assume your opponent is also playing GTO, and the proper play is to raise most of the time. Yet in real life your opponent may not be playing GTO. Similar situation to your limp with AQ. GTO will say shove the A-10 every time. But because you know his shove range will be well below AQ, you set the trap to exploit his GTO shove range. GTO wouldn't say limp with AQ UTG either.
