Pot Up A BARE Root Tree!

Bare root trees offer more selection while also, usually, costing less! Here is how I like to approach potting them up in containers.

I bought a couple bare root trees from a local supply store and one from an online nursery. The two from the store are still just twigs, but the one from online is turning green with leaves.

Learn from my mistakes: when it's getting too big for that pot, get a bigger pot (unlikely) or get the tree in the ground before it outgrows its pot and decides to grow through it

Hey can I ask you a question. What type of compost and soil do you use? Every single type of soil or compost that I have bought comes FULL of sticks and mulch and stuff but yours looks like it doesn't have anything but dirt and perlite or vermiculite. I've been trying to find something that's similar to what you have but still haven't found it yet.

You can put fruit trees in pots and still get fruit. There are specific trees designed for this so just make sure to do your research on that.

@@JD-yq3dd , I have three container fruit trees in half barrels. I believe they’re somewhere around a 30 gallon capacity. The pot being shown here is obviously a lot smaller than that. I’d guess 10-15 gallons?
