Watching an older video. It would be interesting to see a POTA activation from a boat in the middle of the lake. Or the ocean if it is feasible.

I would glue a little magnet to that tripod so you can put the nut on it to reduce chances of losing it if it gets dropped. Good video!

The first time I have seen a Buddie pole setup. I will have to look and see what kind of radiation pattern that has. A lot different than you normal end fed ground vertical. The feed point rasped that high must make it have different characteristics which would mean the counter poise has a greater affect on the tune of the antenna. Still love the view of Alaska. Reminds me of my times there when I was a kid. Thanks for the video! 73

Pretty cool stuff! I'm a Tech in Phoenix, but bring my Yaesu VX-2R with a 102" whip to scan and listen to other bands while camping. Maybe I'll hear you one of these days. Cheers! Pete in Arizona - KI7LIL & WRXY843

@@KL7ECoutdoors No plans to test for general anytime soon. I'm real happy with the tech level using vhf/uhf/d-star for comms while rv'ing/at camp/and while at home. But, I'll never say never... I may catch the general bug and hit the books one day to upgrade.
