Potatoes were small because your soil needed to be enriched with more phosphorous and less nitrogen (which is why you had an abundance of leaves). Also potatoes need a lot more water.

@@nobodynowhere8061 you get more leaf production. Nitrogen will cause the plant to use most of its energy to produce leaves rather than producing the potatoes.
@samm8250 Жыл бұрын
@crositosecacc1456 on all plant fertilizers you'll see 3 numbers separated by dashes. These correspond to N-P-K ratios. P is for phosphorus content. If the P ratio is higher than N and K that would be best for potatoes. If your fertilizer is limited on P, you can always amend with Bone Meal or Seabird Guano. I usually buy a general all purpose fertilizer (e.g. Down to Earth) and just add a bit more Bone Meal or Guano to grow more/larger spuds.

Nice try, for next time, remember to add water and give them tomato fertilizer. Give them nitrogen in early growth stages, then phlorophus in the later stages of growth. Also, make sure to give them plenty of soil and natural soil. The ones that are in your backyard as well and not harvesting them until the whole plant has completely died. I also recommend planting two potato seedlings together, which can help increase yield and productivity in your plants. As a farmer, I know that potatoes are resilient. They help each other grow and, through their roots, they give nutrients to each other of necessary like trees do. Give them plenty of room to grow. Also, potatoes love pruning of the bottom leaves and soil on the top of the places you prune your leaves. If you try this, you will have a better harvest. Best regards and good job on your harvest; Sincerely, The Word

Its very humid in the backyard and i had a space of like 15 cubic meter for those potatos, left it without even maintaining it for almost an year and when i went to harvest it theres was 50 kilos of sweet potatoes. It only started with a few small plants that divide even more, there was also beautiful flowers almost all year

This is a very good experiment. Showing others what will happen if you grow potatoes like other plants. And fyi, contrary to what others say, you dont need a lot of water, you need the right soil/nutrients and enough mulch to prevent the moisture from leaving. I live in AZ and only watered my potatoes 1x a week during the summer. I had the right soil and enough mulch to insulate the ryzomes. If this person did too little water, the plant would've died. It just wasnt enough nutrients to supply the next generation. If you want healthy babies, you have to give the mama all the nutrients first. That is life.
