It's potato harvest day ! Today we are harvesting our Kennebec potatoes that were planted in the raised bed garden using the Ruth Stout method of growing them on top other ground under a thick layer of straw ! This is one of the best methods for growing this type of potato plant !

Great minds. We just dumped 3 buckets of Russets today. 10.5lbs with about 1/2 of them "baker" sized. Those little ones are excellent in veggie packs and potato salads, or just boiled fork tender and put on your plate. Better than earlies/new. TYFS, Nice haul Tina

I tried purple viking this year im in knox tn and I was surprised how big they got the biggest ones ive gotten and I do potatoes every year even the ones I did in grow bags were good size and I never get big potatoes in grow bags but I try it every year because home grown potatoes are so much better then store bought. Ive never tried Roth Stout but like Tina I love digging up my potatoes.
