Absolutely. I’m 73 and play clarinet as an amateur. My heroes are (I think) the A list of clarinet players…….Goodman, Shaw, DeFranco, Peplowski, Nicholas, to name some. Up until a few years ago, I’d never heard of Vache’, not being familiar with the players in Jim Cullum’s band. After stumbling upon Vache’ it was apparent that he’s the real deal. His altissimo work, for instance, is very impressive. His undisciplined fingering is likely a product of his teacher Kenny Davern, who displayed the same tendency. But…….what a player!!!
