I honestly don’t know how you survived that. I would have died on King because I can never keep my units alive once they drop in health unless I have a massive army that it doesn’t matter if I lose heaps.

I love watching you stack the odds against yourself only to somehow crawl through a minefield of glass on your stomach until you somehow get to the finish line first, despite the AI having steel boots and laser guns to fight you with while you only have a couple sticks and a ball of dirt. That was a run-on sentence, but I will not apologize. It's endlessly entertaining to see unbeatable challenges be beaten, and you always seem to be able to pull cards out of an oracle or wherever.

I had a game recently where I started and almost immediately ran into Elizabeth. So I rushed her, took her out .. and Egypt appeared. So I rushed Egypt took it out .. and then discovered Persia and the Mayan just to the North on the other side of mountains with a small pass between the ranges. Weirdest dang game. Then the Mayn had no space to expand and they send a settler down the pass so war, took it, thank you very much. Then Persia did the same thing after I got peace with the Mayans. So there I am sitting with five cities (two enemy capitals, original capital, and two from stolen settlers) So I try to go around the mountains to attack Mayan from the sea and run into Mansu?! So I took him out as he was doing nothing and finished him off and *poof* there is Malaysia right next to him. All of these civs within a small portion of the map. It was freaking ridiculous. But I took so many temples I converted Mayans and Persia to my religion before they established anything .. and then as I tried exploring world ran into Germany. Quick rush of religious units and win before 1400. I would say a good 50% of the globe was still unexplored by any civs due to how everything got placed so weird.

I'm pretty sure with ranged units and the Divine Wind bonus you have to be attacking into the coastal tile. Vietnam works the same way, with ranged units sitting in forests attacking a featureless tile getting no bonus, but getting one if they attack into a forest. It's weird, but it still means your archers/slingers will be stronger defending.
