Not sure if this is a bug, but you can save 20 seconds on a gen in dbd with potential energy and a speedy toolbox while using barely any toolbox charges. This video is that interaction while hitting no great skill checks

Since this is getting some attention after the otz video: At the time I posted this I wasn't 100% sure it was a bug - my friend with 200 hours found this on accident a month ago while using the perk because he thought it looked cool. Only after testing it in several different ways and then revisiting the interaction after seeing a clip on Alby's stream did we figure out how it worked. I have been using this channel to document things that I don't think are well documented (like the quick gambit + open handed interaction which I got added to the wiki). Now that I'm confident this is unintended I would really recommend not using this outside of custom games. I'm not sure why this perk isn't killswitched but I wouldn't take BHVR's unwillingness to killswitch the perk as a sign that you won't get punished for using it. On top of that, it just sucks to face this as killer

So, currently we have: 1• Insane rubber-banding across all platforms for both Survivor and Killer 2• Certain maps being able to be crossed to out of bounds, potentially holding the game hostage for the killer up until 1 hour before the server closes or the killer DC's 3• A bugged perk that grants survivors the ability to save around 20 seconds of gen repair time 4• Server crashing for no reason 5• Bubba chainsaw randomly going to tantrum mode BHvr really wants us to stop playing this game

It’s likely all cause of the update moving everything to UE5, things were bound to break especially given DBD’s spaghetti code. Just don’t understand why BHVR can’t killswitch stuff that’s clearly broken such as this perk and Hawkins until they’re fixed

The video was 72 sec long and a solo gen takes 90 sec, so it was 18 sec faster. Around 25-30% of a toolbox for a whole gen is not most of the toolbox. If you let go at 19 stacks instead of 20 you wouldn't use your toolbox at all.

@@satorikeyeto Yeah getting a skill check when you're close to 20 stacks forces you to use some of your toolbox charges, which deplete quickly with this toolbox. If you want to make sure that happens it's safest to stop charging the perk after you get a skill check around 12 tokens I think

Right now DBD is in the worst state it has ever been. I'm surprised ALL these bugs and exploits are IN THE LIVE SERVERS. Typically we expect these stuff to be in PTB and be fixed when they hit the live servers. This is just ridiculous.

Probably best not to risk it! If I remember correctly, some people got punished for using the flashlight locker exploit a few months ago, but the vast majority faced no punishment for it. You're probably safe if you use this but I don't think it's worth it

That's effectively a permanent 28.6% repair speed bonus on one perk on all gens, provided you bring the right toolbox. Plus toolbox repairs have the added bonus of increasing skill check odds by 40%. If you're injured with resilience for 9% speed and working on a deja vu gen for 6% speed you're only getting 15% bonus repair speed. Only a little more than half what potential energy gives, and it's on dependent on you bringing a toolbox, not a more difficult condition like the other 2 perks. So compared to pretty much every other gen speed perk in the game, potential energy is just wayyyyyy stronger with this exploit

Generators take 90 seconds, this video is 72 seconds long, so this trick saves 18 seconds, pair it up with deja vu and resilience, and you could probably knock it down to 62 seconds

Yeah this video is with zero great skill checks, and toolbox repairs increase skill check chances by 40%, so you get a lot more while charging potential energy. If you hit some greats, each one is going to add another 1% to the gen too

Reading the description might help. If you bring a toolbox like I used in this vid, the fact that using toolbox repairs to charge potential energy doesn't consume toolbox charges means that putting tokens into the perk with enough repair speed is faster than repairing normally. So you put 1 token into potential energy, swap to toolbox repairs until 20 (or fewer if you fear skill checks), then dump the tokens and repeat. It's effectively 28.6% repair speed on one perk if you bring the right toolbox, which is super strong. It's likely a bug though so I would avoid using it in public matches

Indeed it's how the perk works. But the generation process visual is bugged. This also happens with self-care time to time. You heal yourself and the heal process don't go up..
