Can I use any potentiometer like potentiometer in speaker

Well the main thing that can change in a pot is the form factor (how many legs, size, shape, etc) and the range of resistance (For example 10 ohm - 100 ohms or 1000 ohms to 10k). So if the potentiometer fits your applications sure (but I don't know what you plan on using it for)

okay this was super helpful for me but i do have a question. So i have the exact set up youre running and just like you suggested I burned out my potentiometer. I have more but im worried Ill simply continue to burn through them. What do I do in order to make sure I dont burn the pot out? im assuming ill have to wire in a resistor or something but im unsure of how

Yes you are correct - ideally you would wire in a resistor reduce the current (and save your pot). The trick is picking a resistor that can reduce the current enough but no so much that you can't use the DC motor (may want to try 10 ohms and work up or down from there). The exact resistor needed depends on your voltage source, motor, and your potentiometer. But if you don't mind losing a resistor or two I would start at 10 ohms and work near that. Just note that if your currents are high enough to exceed your resistor power rating you may burn those up (often 1/2 or 1/4 watt). There are more advanced circuits that can bypass this issue (motor control circuits)

can i use a 20k pot for my 12v dc 775 motor?

It's going to depend on how much current your pot can take.

not unless you have a very much larger wire wound potentiometer. the 775 motor takes way to much current (1.2A) for one of these dinky film pots.

You should try and keeping it short and simple. Try to show your videos with the assumption that everything your showing us works and just negative to negative positive to positive where to connect the ground and there you go!!! As informative as it may be your video tends to drag on and I can see where someone would loose interest half way through your presentation. I can see where you can be perceived as just wanting to hear yourself talk. Cut to the chase trust me! Your viewership will soar! If someone needs clarification you can give it to them in the comments! Hope I enlightened you!
