Maybe I knew it at some point? Not sure, haven't played in a looong time, so forgotten most of it :)

The trick in question (deliberately "wasting" a bit of the terraria by crossing the whirlpool and THEN heating the potion) is a bit specific to the current map, which as i understand things is fairly new.

Another great episode. Today's was special seeing how you discover strategies and optimizations. The method you used to arrive at selling potions was very different from mine. It's nice to expand your idea base. Thanks for streaming!

27:57 - if you haven't figure out, which I bet you did. 1 driad seed and 1 terraria, you use the terraria until you're on the left of the middle path then get the vortex, the next driad should touch the next vortex AND you have the left motion of it to get closer to the stone skin.

I might experiment some more with that :) thanks!

Hey I've just found your channels a few days ago looking for someone who actually theorycrafts and puts some thought into the game and it's been an awesome find, I don't know if you've already played it but I would really recommend The Guild 3 if you like econ-sim with a bit of role, it's pretty in-depth and has a lot of mod support. Would love to see more games like this on your channel!
@KillrobPlays3 күн бұрын
The Guild is a big game (-series)! :D I doubt I would have time to play it but I do enjoy games like that. The other game I play on this channel that is very technical and in-depth is Automation, which I'm the lead designer and producer for. Cheers!

After completing Suffering and starting a new save file in Classic difficulty just to feel the difference, it almost doesn't even feel like a game. I've been employing the same strategies I used during suffering very sub optimally because I've been rushing through it, even my recipes are far from being as efficient as they could be. I'm on day 21, I've been buying the merchants out completely since they showed up (minus the cosmetic ones, because i couldn't be bothered), including mark up prices, every transaction has been a profit and I have over 200k gold, the ingredients which are growing in the garden are over a thousand and I'm level 127, I don't even bother haggling anymore because there is no point. It definitely feels like the Garden and the new level system was balanced purely with Grandmaster and Suffering in mind because Classic seems to be broken.
@KillrobPlays3 күн бұрын
Classic mode certainly isn't meant for the more hardcore players :) it is way more forgiving in terms of what skill build you can go for, much more of a casual experience. Nothing wrong with that, just not for "us"? :D I do think they probably made that mode too easy with how powerful the skills are.

"Witch mushroom or shadow chantrelle?" Thistle :p In all seriousness they all have their uses, thistle is absolutely amazing with no grinding if you can snag a seed and don't have to care about efficiency, probably not worth the price if you have to buy from merchants, but shadow chantrelle is perfect for getting into magical vision from below and witch mushroom is good for precision navigation. Ive been afraid to make any potions dependent on the REALLY fancy ingredients like rainbow shrooms XD
@KillrobPlays4 күн бұрын
Yes, I would only use ingredients that I have in the garden / pond / cave :) nothing fancy for now!

I was actually surprised to see you mess up what you were trying to do with "use excess dryads saddle". Because i thought you already knew thr tricks needed to make it work. At any rate, after watching that i figured out how to do it myself before continuing. My method has more margin room thanks to step 2, which is the part that must'vebeen extremelycounter intuitivefor you since you never tried it. 1. Fully grind and stir a dryad saddle (a terratia would work too but the idea is to use excess dryads saddle) 2. Fully grind a terraria, but instead of heating when you first touch the whirlpool, KEEP stirring until youve mostly crossed it to waste a bunch of the unwanted left motion. 3. Dryads saddle, fully ground, but ladling when you are to the left instead of ladling whenever (get a bit more rightward motion to have some margin room 4. Then finally another dryad, again ladling when you are on the left. However if you want to then get perfect stoneskin with the same saddle i believe you have to go all the way to the right when stirring before heating, and then immediately ladle but not too far. ...to be fair, when i unlocked oil i frequently plowed straight through sand patches uncaring about efficiency, so...XD Edit: wait nvm me i used 4 ingredients in all. Derp!
@KillrobPlays4 күн бұрын
There sure are ways to spend dryad's saddle more! But I don't want to do it "just cause" until we have way too many xD

As I said earlier, you can harvest tons of herbs every day by using the fertilizer potion. So you basically have infinite seeds and herbs. 😅 You could brew a Light 3 / Fire 2 Potion to bulk brew and sell for about 10 gold each. 😅 There are still ways to cheese the game.

[34:12] Hmm, Do you NEED to get the L3 Strength? Wont 1 be over-written when you get the stone skin L3? Thus you could ladle a bit more to get high enough to get just the L2 and be tiny bit closer to the whirlpool.
@KillrobPlays3 күн бұрын
No, the Strength 3 effect is not necessary :) that is something to consider!

I sell bulk potions in my normal playthrough. 5 ingredients can get you 10-20 gp but those same ones in a potion can net you 20-40+ gp
@KillrobPlays4 күн бұрын
That sure works :) and with the dedicated skills for that you can make quite a bit of money!
@WitchElbi4 күн бұрын
The merchant can buy the seeds! You just need to change your inventory tab. You were on potions+ingredients, seeds are under building inventory. They don’t sell for much though… 🤓
@KillrobPlays4 күн бұрын
Yes, I expect nothing else xD why would prices not be ridiculous all of a sudden haha Cheers!
@danionescu21464 күн бұрын
Not to mention he already planted the seed 12:04 so he had no seed to sell 21:34 😅 Anyway, another piece of advice, make sure you do two haggling sessions, one for buying and one for selling. Using potions to lower the price is always bad.
@fractalgem4 күн бұрын
@@danionescu2146im pretty sure haggling it all at once both raises the potion sell price and lowers the goods price. The only time itd really be an issue is if you flub the deal or manage to eat all the merchant's gold.
@KillrobPlays4 күн бұрын
Like fractalgem says, it does work both ways, so no need to do it in two parts. You get a huge shift in price when you sell something at the same time as you buy stuff.
@danionescu21463 күн бұрын
@@KillrobPlays Yes, I thought that haggling affects only the difference between what you buy and what you sell. But next episode clearly proves me wrong 😅. Maybe I still had this idea from the first version of the game and they fixed it since.
@Stone7C14 күн бұрын
i understand why people are saying the golden books are bad, but i dont think theyve played on your difficulty. right now youre selling a single potion for between 9 and 50 gold most of the time. if you really invest into alchemical practice, your whole board is going to be full of green books every day. if 30% of those are golden by having another 3 points spent on the skill, then youre going to make at least 1 extra potions worth of gold in a single brewing process. that can stack up to a lot of gold over time.
