As a person that has followed the build out of the Washington Metrorail system from just after the first groundbreaking in 1969. I was somewhat surprised at how generous the dimension of the station is when visiting opening day. A typical twin platform station be it on the surface or in subway has roughly 13 1/2 feet wide platforms. The width of the platform in the Potomac Yard station are comparable to the width of the upper level platforms in Metro Center. Metro Center has the second widest twin platforms (18 feet) in the system only exceeded by upper level platforms in L'Enfant Plaza (21 feet). The floor area of the mezzanine is more the three time the size of any other station in the system. The station has more elevators (10) then the (4) stairs and (4) escalators combined.

Awesome stuff! Exciting to see something open after years of waiting! A few thoughts I had about the station: 1. I think that building the South Entrance would have been hugely beneficial. This would have expanded the walk/bike shed of the station. 2. Very nice design, I like that there are full (?) platform canopies unlike on some older WMATA stations. That's going to be very good especially when taking into consideration climate change and the various extreme weather events which will happen more often and unpredictably in the coming years. 3. I'm happy they included bike parking. If the Potomac Yards area gets a large amount of high quality bike infrastructure (which seems like the case, then adding those bike racks is a huge plus. Overall, great video, keep up the good work!

As soon as July 1st, 2023 frequencies will get even better. Yellow line trains will run every 6 minutes on weekdays, and every 10 minutes after 9:30 PM. The blue line will generally stay the same with 10 minute frequencies. Combined, trains would arrive every 4 minutes on average.

but the YL is only going to Mt. Vernon Sq though not Greenbelt 😑 I appreciate what metro is trynna do but even with more Green line trains, I really don't understand why were in such a hurry to cancel the Yellow railcar shortage or not and waste taxpayer money and funding on changing maps and signs again. Ofc if we had all 700+ 7ks back these would be unlikely but idk. Either way, I would rather take 8 mins all day till 9 pm and 20 mins after 9 pm without turn backs and YL to Greenbelt then 6 mins all day and 10 after 9pm with turn backs just my point of view. 8 mins is just as good as 6. The Silver Spring turns on the red are okay cause it doesn't affect as much people but the ones at Mount Vernon Square suck. And 8 mins would be better on Blue than 10 at rush to properly align with Orange, Silver and Yellow but whatever.

They should've built a path straight to the street instead of those long bridges.

Agreed, long sloped bridges are ok for accessibility but at least put in a stairwell.
