Thanku.I am a beginner hoping to buy some secculents. Now we have good sun light.but from May last to August we will have rain.So wonder I start now or after rainy season
@Mountaincrestgardens2 жыл бұрын
You could start now with the sunshine. Well-draining pots and soil will help your succulents tolerate some rain. Or for really heavy rains, pull the pots under a covered, outdoor area.

Thanks a lot for sharing! When the succulent is pretty much covering the pot (you can see the soil) how do you water them? Or is it just time to re-pot?
@Mountaincrestgardens3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Kristina! At that point, you could switch to "bottom watering" (as long as your container has a drainage hole). Place the pot in a larger tub and fill the tub with a couple inches of water. The water will soak up the planter over the next couple hours. And it won't get the leaves wet!

Thank you for this video. It is very helpful. I purchased 12 succulents in 2" pots and 2 MCG Sundry gardens, I in a peat pot and other in the 3.5 plastic pot from your store a few weeks ago and getting scared about repotting. I bought a pack of your 3.5 plastic pots and wasn't sure they would be the right size or not. Do you think that they will work?
@Mountaincrestgardens3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! You'll need extra soil for the 2" plants. Look for something light, gritty, and well-draining like a cactus & succulent soil. With enough sunlight, they should fill in nicely!

At what point do you change pot sizes if you want your succulents to grow very large
@Mountaincrestgardens4 жыл бұрын
Depends on the variety. Some succulents stay small no matter which container they are in like these for mini gardens mountaincrestgardens.com/miniature-fairy-garden-succulents/ Others will quickly outgrow their containers like this Echeveria mountaincrestgardens.com/echeveria-crinoline-ruffles-limited/

My succulents are rotting on the bottom leaves. Should I put rock on top to keep from leaves from touching the soil?
@Mountaincrestgardens4 жыл бұрын
Are they rotting? Or just getting old? Most succulents as they age have the lower leaves dry up and die off and you can just pluck them off with no damage to the plant. One of the most common things to kill succulents (especially indoors) is overwatering which can cause the roots to rot. So make sure you only water when the soil is completely dry. You can test the soil with a popsicle stick to be sure. If you want to get more specific feedback you can email us a picture at info@mountaincrestgardens.com.

Is it true they said, bigger pot will make the succulent or cacti grow bigger & healthier??
@biolotea33507 жыл бұрын
elfreakz A bigger pot will make the succulent grow bigger, but not necessarily healthier. Sometimes selecting a pot that's too large can cause a succulent to overexert itself in trying to fill the large pot with a root system that it goes into "transplant shock". Bigger pots also don't drain as well as smaller pots. Sometimes succulents like to be root-bound; being root-bound can often trigger a succulent to produce offshoots or even blooms. A bigger pot simply allows a succulent to grow bigger. Hope this helps!
