I lived in Potters Bar as a teenager from 1956 to 1972 . Excellent video. I remember The Ritz (Manager was Mr Seymore ( not sure of spelling), The Red Lion, The White Horse, Cranmore and Bergoynes garages , The working Man's Club in the High Street where we paid 6d for the light over the snooker tables. travelling on the 29, 34 and 313 buses daily to Enfield Technical School. In the evenings many long distance coaches would travel along the high Street on their way overnight to Newcastle Edinburgh and Glasgow. There was an old plane wreck behind Oakmere house amongst the trees which I think was a WW2 fighter plane . Does anybody know anything about this? I did see Akker Bilk in answer to a couple of commentators in Darkes Lane in the 1960's. I think Terry Lightfoot also lived in PB at some time.

I too grew up in Potters Bar in the fifties and often heard of Acker living there but never met or saw him. (Now live in Scotland)

I was born in Potters Bar in 1950, we lived in Stratford Gate. It was a great place to grow up. In the 1960s I belonged to the Methodist Youth Club in Baker Street, in 1964 we did a show called November nights. Does anyone have any memories of the club.?

LOST CAT ALERT- Has anyone lost a Cat in or around "Highview Gardens" in Potters Bar around Monday 13th October. My friend saw the cat, and she gave it some water and food. It was wearing a collar. The next day my friend heard a commotion outside her door, and found the cat having a massive epileptic Fit. This time the Cat's Collar was missing. We dont know if the cat had been attacked by someone or what. Another neighbour took him to the Vets. The cat was fully grown, male and black.

I'm hoping for a Part 3. Also eventually, there will be ones about the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, but I cant say when exactly. At the moment I am doing one about North Mymms.

Does anyone have any memories of meeting Akker Bilk in Potters Bar. I've never met him. But my Mum who used to work in the Wimpy (which became Starburger), said that he came in the Wimpy once, and some of the other workers were being a bit boisterous and loud. and my Mum said "Shoosh, Akker Bilk has just walked in".
