I love your upcoming video ideas! I'd like to learn how you manage your studio time with the business end. You seem very organized! Do you use a planner to schedule your days? With the different stages of clay drying, I find it difficult to manage my time in my home studio and my productivity seems to suffer. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. You're an inspiration! Merry Christmas! ❤️🎄

Hey! I have a few planners actually, as I'm always juggling a mixture of pre-orders and making ready to ship stuff for shop updates, which can get confusing. Paul made a Google Sheet that we put all of our orders into which helps us track the progress of everything being made and sent out. Then I have my own physical notebooks which I use in the studio and to plan the details and my day-to-day. I'll definitely make a video about all of that though, it's a great idea! Thanks!

I have a manual kiln and hopefully will get a digital one day.

Hey Fern, is that one with a sitter? I've never used a manual kiln before (apart from a wood-fired one, but that's a little different haha)

Hey Su, i adore your videos! I'm thinking of buying a rohde ecotop 43l or 60l. Are you happy with yours? Would you buy it again? I really want to make miniatures and maybe a few mugs i think a kiln like big Alice will be waaayyy overkill for what i need. Are there any reasons you use that one over your ecotop, other than size? X

The Rohde ecotops are great smaller kilns - the 43l was really easy to use and suited us at the start we just out grew the size but for what you are wanting to make it sounds perfect x

Just wondering what cones you use in the witness cone pack? Do you find your glazes fire better to a cone 7?
@BlankEarthCeramics Жыл бұрын
I use the standard size Orton cones (I tried the mini ones first but didn't find them to be very reliable in my kilns). Cone 7 is just what I ended up settling on when I was optimising my first kiln with the glazes I've been using. I used a standard firing schedule from one of John Britt's books and found it went too high in my kiln - I then just kept adjusting it down until I was happy with the outcome
