Gorgeous pots!!!! Your tiles are fantastic!! They’re allll flat!!! How the heck did you do that?!?! I make flat test tiles and kiln cookies and they hardly ever stay that flat!! But I do see that you stack your tiles very high so I’m thinking the weight is what’s really helping!! I will have to make sure to put weight on my boards!! I absolutely LOVE the tea strainer you make. Such great ideas!! Your gold and silver test tiles are a great idea!! Love how you put them over the slip!! Love the houses so much and I see you have a video on how to make them! Love being able to see all the pots at the end!! That teapot is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!! Perfect glaze combination!!! Please let me know if you have a class on how you made the teapot!!

Aww thanks so much Michele! They certainly don't all stay flat in the firing, I had quite a few duds in the end that I had to throw away, but a lot of them worked out thankfully! I really do think that stacking them relatively high while drying helped keep them flat with all the weight - I also made sure to change the piles around regularly to make sure they all got squished. I found that you can actually put a lot of weight on them without losing any pattern definition

Yes the Halloween house - it's so cute! And a tea pot although it sounds challenging would be fun to give a try. Enjoyed your video as usual - thank you

Thanks for showing us the results…but where’s the lid to the compost bowl and the jug?
@BlankEarthCeramics2 жыл бұрын
Hi Teresa Ah sorry I don't think the lid fit into that firing and I haven't glazed the jug yet! Still deciding on how I want to glaze it haha! this is the problem when you really like the form I always put off the glazing incase I ruin it lol. I hope to share that once I'm brave enough to go for it!

Hello I'm just learning and wondering how long do you leave your blocks for cottages to dry out before carving them out. I really wanted to do my fairy houses that way. I like your idea.

Hey Heidi, it really depends on the weather and humidity at the time, so it's kind of hard to say for sure. After doing the intial shaping of my block, I generally leave them out overnight before doing the most of the bulk removal of clay to hollow. Then I wait for the right consistancy to do my carving, it's kind of a leather-hard stage, where I can't make an indentation with my finger but can with my nail. Depending on dry the clay is you can get some different effects, so I would say give it a few goes and see what works for you!
