Utica NY has so many murders every year. Walk down James st it's a memorial of the dead. Southwest Syracuse ain't no joke. NY is my state I've lived in all of the regions. It may have gotten more dangerous, but I’m surprised it was named one of the _most_ dangerous places in NY. I lived there nearly all of my life, save for a few months ago when I finally left. I’ve been on these streets all the time. I didn’t find it to be extremely dangerous. I would walk around all over (I don’t recommend it, just in case), but most of us did and very few of us were ever hurt because of it. My family still lives up there and I hope to visit again soon. We did live on the suburban side though only traveling through most of the spots here. Lots of cool people there and course, plenty to avoid.

Take any mid sized city in America. First remove the REGION'S major employer and taxpayer (IBM). Then follow that by removing the subsidiary employers (like DeLaval, etc.) Follow up by ringing an eminently walkable downtown containing the biggest department store between New York City and Albany (Luckey and Platt) with the bane of every downtown, The Malls. See what happens. Or watch this video. Oh, and make a couple of stabs at "renewing" downtown, like making it a paved walkway, or tearing down the old entertainment strip (hey, it was mostly those colored folks there anyway, right?) like the Twentieth Century so that there isn't live music downtown at five different bars on one street. Try that. Or don't.

I lived there from 1979 to 1995. There is an underlying anger to people there. People are very quick to yell at other drivers who don't do what the yeller think they ought to do. People just seem angry all the time, I guess because all the blue-collar jobs like at Western Printing and Schatz Bearing are long gone. The county put all their hopes in IBM on route 9, figuring that they don''t need those smokestack jobs, then IBM went down the tubes. Women when you meet them in singles bars look good. You can fuck them. When I lived there single women drove Pontiac Trans Ams and cars like that and they were just putting in their time until some chump marries them in a big. gaudy wedding. Once she's got that ring, the long hair gets cut off and the weight goes on. Marital bait and switch. Ask me how I know. So glad I don't live there anymore. I won't go back.

I was born and be kept see. I'm practically in Poughkeepsie every day of my life and like any other place. If you act like an idiot you going to find trouble. I've never ever had a problem then. Poughkeepsie even though I know there's trouble there, but there's trouble to be found anywhere if you go to the wrong place or you're looking for it

It most definitely is one of the most dangerous cities in the state of New York by a long shot and I know that for a fact cause I live in the city and have been there a million times in my whole entire life so I know for a fact that it is a very dangerous place to live in especially if you are in to the whole gang banging thing but as long as you don't go looking for trouble then you won't have a problem with it for the most part but it can also be a place that you can get chosen by any one of the people that do gang banging or do some kind of drugs or whatever else that you can get yourself involved in and get into some serious kind of situation that you might have to fight for your life and what not. But for the most part as long as you don't go starting anything with anyone that you don't know or might think that is a pushover or something like that and then they wind up doing something to you outta the blue so my advice to you all that think that it will be a simple thing to do there then I would strongly suggest to re think about what you are thinking about doing out there and just do yourself a favor and stay home with your family and loved ones and enjoy the time with them and get rid of the idea of going there to start some trouble with the people that live there

Poughkeepsie was great until they built Main Mall (copying Kalamazoo) and then shutting down Hudson River Psychiatric Hospital. Main Mall was taken over by psychos and all of the quality stores closed. Textbook example on how to ruin a city.

This is a joke. You just drove around the worst parts of the city (which aren’t even that bad) misrepresenting it as the whole of Poughkeepsie.
@theodorefrazier7417 Жыл бұрын
Poughkeepsie isn''t that bad.... sure it might not be as safe as say, the village of Pelham in Westchester, but it's a city with over 100,000. Also contrary to what high profile stories coming out of NYC say, NY state is one of the safest states in the country. Would be interesting to see how Poughkeepsie compares yo the cities of similar size from around the country.
@mikedalto364 Жыл бұрын
As of 2021 the us census bureau has the city of Poughkeepsie population at roughly 32000 residents... that's a lot less than a hundred thousand. Are you counting the town of Poughkeepsie in that number as well? There's just under three hundred thousand people in all of dutchess county. I doubt that a third of that number is in the city of Poughkeepsie.
