Pound and Sound© by Jack Hartmann is a kinesthetic approach to help students blend words and isolate (segment) sounds. Jack pounds his fist to say the word, and then he sounds out each sound in the word by using a finger for each sound. Jack then pounds his fist again to represent blending the sounds in each word together to pound the word.
