Hi Moose! In my early 20s, (a lifetime ago!) I had a job with a construction outfit. I was initially assigned to move gravel and cement with a wheelbarrow. Honestly, I think the superintendent gave me this job to see if I had any real work ethic. Well, it was a very good way to find out! That first week, I thought I was going to die! I mention all this to say that if anyone watching decides to do a project involving moving aggregate or concrete, make smaller loads and more trips; you'll live longer. LOL!

Mixing concrete by hand as a 65+ person is no fun, but can be done if you move slower and be careful.

I'm number 1! I watch these kids on K&S Get Out and they are building up their property and I always think they need you around because you can out build any man I've ever seen. If they had you around their house would be built already.

Hi Moose, great videos! I'm building an oby too and I'm curious about the forms you created for the base of the pier. I am not understanding how you removed them. Hello from Texas, and clear skies! -jason

Forms only were for top 18 inches at ground level , the hole became the form for bottom.

Knowing ZERO about concrete but about to make his own peer, I have a question for you. Why did you choose to do it in 3 separate pours of cement? Was it a time issue? Any concern with losing strength by having separate (yet connected) pieces of the pier?

It was an issue with ability to do job myself and not being able to do all at same time. Concrete pours are frequently done in stages, that is the reason rebar extends from the older section to the newer pour
