Pouring curbs... All day...

Today we had curb jobs. Lots of curbs. Curb machines are easy in an automatic, but you still have to pay attention to your slump. If the concrete is even a little too wet, the contractors can't use the mud. So getting the water right is a must!
I started this channel after I began driving cement mixer trucks in Eastern Washington. As a cement mixer truck driver, I enjoy watching trucker videos but rarely came across local truck driving jobs like cement trucks, pick-up and delivery, and construction. Judging by comments and questions I’ve seen on other truck driving channels, many people don’t realize that there is a side to the trucker lifestyle other than long haul OTR driving. I am excited to bring more truck driving content to the genre. I hope you enjoy it!
Please let me know in the comments what you like, what you don’t like, and what you’d like to see more of as I continue making videos. Thanks!

I just retired driving mixer for 38 years with the same outfit and I loved curb and gutter machines easy money, I don't know if you poured underground pipeline in the old days we would hang only 1 shut and you had to keep the top and bottom boat full at a 2" max slump . Don't miss the night pours are 12 hour days but I did make a pretty darn good pension from the teamsters!

@@fuzzybutkus8970 obviously it was an auto correct error. I don't understand people like you I mean you must have nothing going on with yourself to take the time to read someone's whole comment and knit pick small things that don't matter. This job is not so easy, I have seen so many people get fired for making mistakes for not paying attention or whatever so anyone that can stay working that long gets my respect but I guess for you he needs to win a spelling Bee 🐝 😂.

How did it go ? I just started 2 weeks ago - and the slump at plant not a problem it’s when you get to the job when they want to add - I still don’t know - I’m a little nervous- not sure if you have any videos explaining slump on meter

@ELKOBRA03 1 gallon of water added for each yard of concrete increases the slump 1". For example, if you have 10 yards of concrete sitting at a 4" and you need to to be a 6", add 20 gallons of water. When in doubt, discharge a little bit onto the chute and ask the crew pouring how much water they'd like you to add. Hope this helps

Hey buddy, big fan. I have a couple of questions: Is math involved in your daily operation, and if it is, Do I need to brush up on my algebra or geometry? It's been a while since I have worked on those. Lol, I'm going to CDL school in February 2024. Thank you so much for introducing your videos; it has helped me see the reality of the industry. Big Fan. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Oh man,Why are they still using rear discharge mixers. We cut a half out of reg. Chute and move hangers and make curb machine chutes and send front discharge with a 1 or 1.5 inch slump. We pour all day on deep sand and other unprepared surfaces.Concete labor must be cheap there. At least you wash your fins and stuff down. U.S. concrete sent us to D.C. to help out.they never wash down on job sites. They have a little flap that’s supposed to stop chute from dripping and race back to plant wash down. I couldn’t get 10 yards in the truck without it splashing out. It needed to be chipped so bad. I guess that company is no longer in D.C. it was embarassing.

how can you tell if its too much water, by the sound?
@michaelmarquez6133
@michaelmarquez6133 Күн бұрын
Actually it does sound different but there is a gauge that you look at that tells you what "slump" you are at. My company we also have a digital meter tells you were you are at too, easy
@tbone231982
@tbone231982 Күн бұрын
Best way is to check your slump gauge. When you hear the rocks clanging against the drum, your mix is dry. When the clanging turns into a swishing noise you're at a 5+

On average how many loads do mixer drivers run per day
@bobeternal9104
@bobeternal9104 3 ай бұрын
Most the time I run about 4 to 5 loads a day but it can be more or sometimes less. I've been at 3 yard job for like 4 hours so it all depends on how fast the contractors are.
@tbone231982
@tbone231982 Күн бұрын
Between load time, drive time, pour time, and wash time you average about 2 hours per load. So 4-6 is a steady typical day. I've seen people claim they do at least 10 deliveries per day and they are so full of it.
