Space child services would first need to expand their services to a very large galaxy all the way to planets in the outskirts like tatooine and even if they were to get to Anakin they would still take him away from his mother (who is a slave who would not have the resources to take care of her child) if Shmi was in slavery due to debt. On the bright side it would make Anakin's recruitment into the Jedi order even easier.

She unironically might have been if she were still alive and didn't know more than most civilians. A lot of the general population thought that the Jedi betrayed the Republic, Anakin died a hero, and the empire era's rebellion was a terrorist group no better than the trade federation separatists were. Even Luke Skywalker thought that the empire were the good guys before they killed his aunt and uncle.

That confused me too - of all the things Shmi could have been unhappy with the Jedi for, Anakin always staying cooped up inside the building was not one of them. I was thinking at first it was some dramatic irony about how Qui-Gon obviously doesn't know that the Clone Wars are coming and Anakin will be out in danger all the time, but even with that it doesn't make sense. And there were several moments where I thought there was going to be an obvious joke but it didn't come.

Anakin joined the Jedi voluntarily as well. He was not "won", the consequence of the bet was that he was freed. You can argue that he was talked into it and since his mum was still a slave, he didn't have many other options, but he was given a choice. And I don't know much about other religions tbh, but in catholicism in medieval europe, it was common to sent children into monastery.

It always bothered me that both the Jedi Council and the Queen of Naboo never thought that they could put Anakin's mind at rest by buying his mum out of slavery and perhaps taking her to Naboo. They just left her behind on Tatooine, wearing cheap clothes and living in a mud hut, while they had a nice big celebration on Naboo after her son blew up a giant spaceship. No one kept up with what happened to her over about 12 years or so - as she was sold off, married, kidnapped, tortured. I wouldn't even do that to a dog.
