especially on fort william. I've ridden it and it's one of those tracks that isn't difficult to ride normally BUT,, at this level is INSANELY difficult to ride.

I went for a ride in the local woods right before this event in similarly sloppy conditions and the roots/rocks are so slippery and unforgiving if you put your wheel wrong. I’m only doing half the speed these riders are doing too. Amaury’s run looked scary fast even with the GoPro effect.

The time gaps in the first section were pretty big though. Some guys were seconds faster than him.

I rode this in the summer of 2022 and it took me 6 minutes to get to the road gap... literally twice the pace. Until I rode this track I was like "huh wow, that's fast!" But now it's absolutely insane to me the way these guys carry such speed over such terrain. This pov doesn't do justice how chunky this track really is. Insane

Was stood near the Visit Scotland arch for Elite Men Finals, and the atmosphere was incredible. Conditions were horrible, but these racers were absolutely hauling. Insane how good they are.

Most people don't realize that a momentary lapse of concentration can mean several seconds lost. Everyone in the top 10-20 are pinning it top to bottom. For a rider to consistently make the top step of the podium, it means he's not only perfectly consistent, but a pushing a pace that other top level pros can't sustain.

Insane the amount of speed he carried throughout the whole run with the track conditions. Not many know the level of skill it takes to keep that amount of speed in slick rock and switch backs that are nothing but mud.

For a guy like me riding a simpler hardtail through forests after work and at the weekend this ride is insane, the speed alone is insane even if it would be dry but it's wet and slippery instead. I guess I would have crashed at half the speed. These riders have a incredible skill level.

This has to be one of the most dangerous sports today. The potential for getting seriously hurt seems higher than MXGP or MotoGP. At any minute (at least in this run) a crash can mean badly broken bones, to say the least.
