since cindy said she doesn’t read many thrillers, i would recommend they never learn by layne fargo! it follows 2 sapphic morally gray women who murder disgusting men in their free time and it was so good i really enjoyed it, especially the audiobook because it has 2 narrators

Completely agree about My Dark Vanessa. It was the first time I've had to take breaks from reading a book because it just made me feel so icky. When ever I think of MDV I get a vibe that can be best described as this time I got fly paper glue on my hand and no matter how many times I washed my hands, it just wouldn't come off.

I’m still a bit new here, I’ve followed both of them for a couple of months?? now but I’m still honestly confused about whether they’re actually together or not? Like I’m fine with them not together, it’s their business, not mine and I’m happy as long as they’re each happy, but really.....are they actually together? On one hand they act like they’re not but on the other hand they have such good chemistry so I don’t know and I just want to know so I’m not forever confused and missing a joke here. Jane Doe sounds really interesting with the way you were talking about sociopaths. I was watching a video essay one time from a bigger movie video essay channel and the title and thumbnail said "sociopath" but then in the actual video, once they got into stuff past the intro part, the narrator was saying "(serial) killer" or "murderer." And I was like, _wait, I thought this was about sociopaths..?_ I didn't even continue watching the video because of them interchangeably using all these terms like sociopath, psychopath, killer, murderer, etc.

I loved that series by Chima! Several years ago I found Demon King on sale or something and got it to read and I fell in love with it. That lead me to buy the box set of the 4 novels and I really loved that series. You are right that it doesn't get the attention it deserves, it made me happy to hear someone else talk about it!

those aren’t the books that got me into reading and I haven’t read that series either. However, I do love her Seven Realms series. It is one of the first fantasy series I invested in with my reading and those books have a special place in my heart. I wonder if you’ve read them.

@@ohohnenyeoo2654 Omg I read the Heir series as in elementary school and the first 3 (st the time there were only 3) were some of my fave books. I read the Seven Realms series in high school and it also became one of my favorite series ever. I then read the Shattered realms and I could tell it was also a great series, I just never finished it bc the sequels had different characters and I loved the main character (Ash) from the first book waaayy too much. But CWC is so underrated. I rarely hear booktok, bookstagram, and every one else talking about her. She needs way more hyp

oh!! i feel like based on ellias’ recommendation of “on earth we’re briefly gorgeous”, either one of you (mostly ellias, maybe?) would probably love “jonny appleseed” by joshua whitehead, if you haven’t heard of this book already. it’s not written as poetry or in verse, but the writing is so raw and vulnerable that it feels like it is as you’re seeing this mc shed his skin, both literally and figuratively, and showing all the naked parts inside him (at the time of reading this book, i was taking a poetry class and i just feel like the author’s writing perfectly encompassed the beauty that comes with weaving words together). so yeah!! highly recommend
